Thinking of building myself a new computer, but I'm completely out of touch. Does anyone have any good suggestions?

@firstdrafthell I mean if you want to build an 8-bit computer there’s MEGA65, AGON Light… oh you meant a PC?

@firstdrafthell I have one for sale - it's a good one, but I will be traveling more, so I need to switch to a laptop. AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, 32GB DDR4 3600, EVGA 4080. 2x 1TB Samsung EVO m.2, Case/Power supply/AIO cooling Fractal Design. Almost all with original box (if needed).

@firstdrafthell I would recommend using $300 (USD) each for CPU, mother board, RAM, and SSD. You can upgrade specific cards after then. Graphic cards are totally up to your use, but $300 is enough, if you are irrelevant with AI. You can just start without a graphic card.

@firstdrafthell unpopular opinion - I'd go 13700k over the 13900k. Between gaming and nearly all development you won't need the extra oomphf of the 13900k, but you'll be paying extra for it plus having to account for it running hotter.

@firstdrafthell If Nvidia GPU: get Founder's Ed. Cheaper and the cooling appears far overdimensioned on the others in practise. I just built a 7950X/4090 pc in the Fractal North cabinet, AMA.

@firstdrafthell 100% you need to state budget and if ray tracing is important to you. They seem to be the big dictators.
