@abbywillwrite It was mainstreamed in the 80s thanks to stars like Hogan and MTV. Now WWE doesn’t have any stars that non wrestling fans would recognize, no house hold names, no one with crossover appeal. Cena was the last.

I always know whenever people say they want Shawn Michaels booking the main roster, that they don’t watch NXT week to week.

I never said WWE never previously worked with celebrities. Of course they obviously have. But under TKO it seems to have become a weekly objective and not just a WrestleMania “thing” and I don’t believe it’s all been beneficial to the product.

WWE has never longed for celebrity involvement as much as they do in this era. I understand the idea, but I think it’s driving away their dedicated fanbase. Hopefully for WWE’s sake, the people who sample wrestling due to following those celebrities stick around.
