Or, they just covered up something wrong with the drink to avoid lawsuits. Considering how much garbage they put in our food these days, would not be surprised. Food dyes, unhealthy preservatives, GMO crops, glyphosate, etc. I drank Coca Cola everyday while I was living in Kyrgyzstan and ate normal and lost 30 pounds while living there 9 months. I came back to America and gained 15 pounds back in about a month. Took only 2.5 months to gain all the weight back. There is something definitely wrong with the food in America. Not sure what the laws were like in Belgium back then, but I highly doubt it was mass hysteria. There was no internet back then. You are talking two different countries (clearly they weren't all playing phone tag). More likely there was something wrong with it, or perhaps something commonly ate with or drank with it had the problem. It is much more likely something was wrong than it was "mass hysteria". But thanks for the retarded post that doesn't prove anything.

In 1999, hundreds of people in Belgium and France reported that they felt sick after drinking Coca Cola due to someone claiming the drinks were contaminated. It resulted in a massive recall of Coca Cola products. After an investigation by health authorities, it turned out to be a case of mass hysteria. The drinks were completely fine and the people had made themselves believe their bodies were sick. Just some food for thought.
