My borrowed copy from @BigTentLearning that I may have claimed as my own! Here is my official entry #givingstudentsasay @myrondueck Hard to pick one sticky note but I love your elevator pitch and this quote “an objective only becomes a learning target when it’s shared...”

@myrondueck @roselmleblanc What a great treat for a Friday! I am looking forward to finding some gems like I did in “Grading Smarter. Not Harder”. The chapter on unit planning changed the game for me and my students.

The door to my mate Tom’s English classroom. I wish he could have been my teacher. I’d have read a lot more books.

What an engaging morning @cncs_huskies in Cambridge Narrows! Such a welcoming, warm, student-focused school. And how about their view!?

Progress in New Brunswick worth celebrating: from 2015 to 2018 we went from one of the highest Low Income rates in the country to one of the lowest. Work left to do, but this is positive!
Trevor Tombe@trevortombe

Today's data: income and poverty measures for 2018! www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/daily-quoti… Large reductions over past few years. Now 8.7%, down from 9.5% in 2017 and 12.1% in 2015. Largest reductions in BC and NB, and lowest overall rate still in AB. #cdnecon

So many are up are bothered by Indigenous land protectors and protesters because it forces us to acknowledge that gap between “Canada the Benevolent” and the horrors on of colonialism.

I had a great chat with teachers today on the gap between Heritage and History in Canada. When we are emotionally bound to the former, we do a disservice to the latter. Often causing great harm. We have a responsibility to teach our students how to find and expose hard truths.
Sean Carleton@SeanCarleton

Those Canadians angered + frustrated by #ShutCanadaDown actions should really direct that anger + frustration at the root cause: Canada's continued + wilful support of mis-education about Indigenous-settler relations; ignorance facilitates colonial injustice in Canada.

@SeanCarleton I agree. Adding that we are, today, watching indigenous youth across the country showing courage and commitment most of us could not fathom.

@TentLearning Thanks, Jon. For sure, there is a balance. My position: we need find creative ways to develop courage in our students, to be committed to work towards the betterment of the world and society around them. That goal is not served by whitewashing and simply celebrating the past.

@cultofpedagogy @wesward77 @JimGrandi @gregwim Hearing this interview for the first time two years ago changed my perspective on transformative change in small spaces. I come back to it regularly. Thank you for another boost!

I had the privilege of spending my afternoon @oromoctohsblues with Social Studies and Fine Arts teachers. OHS is a real leader in empowering students through Personalization. What would success look like for their students?
