@ConciseColin

Colin, but in 280 characters or less. Nowhere near enigmatic enough for it to be worth you reading this bio. Unlikely to be the droid that anyone is looking for

@fesshole That actually sounds sensible - whether people will get on with a team is important. Meanwhile : A friend of mine has a hiring policy of simply discarding half of all CVs before even looking at them because he doesn’t want anyone who is unlucky… 🤷‍♂️

There are so many candidates who meet the basic technical competence for our company that I ask them to list their favorite movies and reject ones I dislike, like Harry Potter. Company still gets new hires and I get coworkers I can get along with.

@Chrisb1276767B @anon_opin Those are usually bought with debt secured against their shares and repaid by what they draw down through dividends. They never buy such things with cash (because they don’t have it). They also don’t usually directly own them either - it is done through companies for tax reasons.

It's impossible for a decent person to become a billionaire. Anyone who isn't a total sociopath would just stop and do something worthwhile instead a long time before they accumulated that kind of wealth.

@Justin_Br0nk How much heavy lifting is that “If” doing? Is there a mechanism to determine whether this is another offering from the Iranian video games department or not, and since the aircraft is reported to have landed is there any chance of the US putting a picture out of it?

@anon_opin Ah - it’s Tony Blair with his plan to make everyone in the country start their working life with an unmanageable debt that they won’t be able to repay… 🤦‍♂️

We need to encourage degree education that trains the mind and has no practical purpose. It outputted people who could apply their intelligence to anything. Universities should be purely places of academic learning, and not vocational training centres.

@anon_opin In the UK the answer is to a significant extent due to parking charges versus free delivery. 🤷‍♂️

I'm baffled by people who go to a bricks-and-mortar supermarket every week, but buy things like books online. Why would you not want to spend time in a nice little bookshop, but you're happy to go to an aircraft hanger on the arse-end of town full of baked beans?

@paddypower The swallow dive was needlessly and embarrassingly theatrical, but no disputing the correctness of the decision.

Let's not pretend that networking events are socials. They aren't. They are ghastly business events with alcohol. All the misery of meeting people you don't want to plus the insult of them being raucously drunk. The inventor should be deeply ashamed of themselves.

Normally, Cadbury's chocolate is full-price just before Easter. Every shop I've been in, it has been discounted by 20 to 50% for the Mini Eggs range. I tried a small bar, and the taste has completely changed. It's tasteless & oily. What happened to Cadbury?

@nicholadrummond That is just for acquisition - the operating costs would be astronomical and moreover the ordinance integrated to it would be exclusively US sourced and also priced to gouge. Even if they would sell it, no sane country would even consider buying it.

One of the most significant reductions in UK capabilities since the end of the Cold War was the retirement of Vulcan and Victor long-range, large-payload strike aircraft. Numerous situations since 1990 would have benefited from the employment of a bomber if we had retained them. In the unlikely event that the USA offered to sell the B-21 to its allies via expanded production, the cost per aircraft would be around $750 million - double the anticipated cost of GCAP / Tempest. Two B-21 squadrons or 24 aircraft would be around $18 billion. With an intercontinental range and the ability to carry a nuclear payload, the B-21 is the apex predator of strategic power projection. But is it worth it? I would be interested to know what RAF seniors think.

❗🇺🇸 USSTRATCOM tells HASC Strategic Forces Subcommittee that there are conversations about possibly opening a second production line for the B-21 Raider.

@thinkdefence Irrespective of whether it saves jobs, it isn’t going to save votes for a government as unpopular as the current regime so it really is a shambolic failure to prioritise vanity over the wellbeing of soldiers for zero purpose.

@anon_opin This is somewhat absurd because in today’s global supply chain, food comes from where it is by definition in season. Requiring them to label domestically produced in-season items would still be a positive step though.

Supermarkets should only be allowed to sell seasonal produce. That way people would once again learn the food rhythms of nature. What's available at different times of the year. Why is that important? Fucking take a look around. We may soon need those old skills.

@LASTEXITshirts Good summary. It’s undemanding, flows nicely and if you like 1980s action films is probably exactly what you are looking for from a bit of escapist nonsense. I enjoyed and would recommend.

If you'd like to see Jack Reacher take down a Metal Gear with shades of 'War of the Worlds', 'Battle: Los Angeles' and 'Predator', then 'War Machine' is the film for you, daft, filled with spectacle and an easy watch. - Jamie
