I'm very glad that I managed to get the driver to abort their overtake. Reviewing the video sent chills down my spine. This is the biggest danger that I face on rural roads. It is mind boggling how some drivers fail to see the danger of overtaking towards blind bends.

I am not vindictive, and have the rich embarrassment of another three police reports to consider tonight, so I shall let the city council have a word with this licensed driver. ASLs (cycle boxes) are for cyclists; an encroaching driver won’t see my camera before it sees them.

Also if you see a cyclist ahead of you approaching a blind bend, don't keep speeding towards them in order to chance a risky overtake before the bend. Gradually reduce your speed and time your overtake for after the bend. Saves you fuel and brake wear and results in safer driving

However, there’s no law on “not being short of money” and it’s that bias holding that against them. Believe me I’m envious of the “mansion” myself but people are being evicted from homes every day who don’t have mansions. Whether it’s this family or a family in Waterford in a 3 bedroom house it worries me that so many people want to see them dragged out of their homes. These people, with their mansion tried to make things right. Other families have tried to make things right. I’ve seen developers break planning laws in the news. Are they in jail? Do they have the Guards raid the house? Maybe it’s just me but these people tried to make things right and now they’re fugitives. Vulture funds and developers seem to have their own laws.

@arrington @ThoughtCrimes80 Those two 2x4s are different species . The larger old one looks like American Chestnut which is now functionally extinct. The one on the left is balsam (Home Depot junk). Home depot also sells Douglass Fir dimensional lumber which is actually pretty good, not shown.

Something I've learned the hard way is that a 2x4 isn't actually 2 inches by 4 inches. It used to be, but not anymore because of course.

For the record, the president of the United States is now simultaneously claiming that he has won the war, is currently winning the war, needs help to win the war, and needs no help to win the war. All to destroy the nuclear program he claims to have already destroyed last year.
