This world cup is going to expose the pure American arrogance. Qatar and Russia had virtually no football stadiums or facilities and built the best for the world cup, but the yanks thought just putting a tournament in NFL stadiums would be enough without laying proper grass etc

@flameosumeet Guys can we stop politicizing this! One nation one team we’re not left and right we’re just US fans. The team will live longer than any politician. It’s been 30 years since our last home World Cup let’s just enjoy.

American soccer fans, particularly those who watch the MLS, are overwhelmingly left-leaning. This includes USMNT supporters. I am not sure of many other (if any) soccer/football federations who go to these efforts to be inclusive. The fans are overwhelmingly behind it and the federation encourages it.

@HLTCO I dont understand why they play on these make shift fields. There are plenty natural grass stadiums around. I get this is not a WC venue but will this game even sell out otherwise it’s just a lot of risk for little reward.

@NoahRiffe As long as water stations where there’s free tap available I don’t think this is as crazy as people think. A full water bottle thrown at a player can seriously injure someone. Personally I would never consider doing something like that but there are some who would.

💧 FIFA just banned resealable water bottles for the 2026 World Cup days before the tournament is set to start. This last minute change came to World Cup ticket holders via email. According to the Athletic: "Only three weeks ago, FIFA’s official Stadium Code of Conduct included a clause which said: 'For the avoidance of doubt, empty, transparent, reusable plastic bottles, up to (1 liter in) capacity, may be brought into the Stadium.'" The new rule now states: “For the avoidance of doubt, reusable water bottles may not be brought into the stadium.” Other types of bottles including metal bottles are also not permitted.
