Just ran into Modal Motors. Non-rare earth electric motors for drones and robotics. Similar costs to Chinese motors, all U.S.-sourced. Incredible.

It’s actually the elimination of all the flux leakage in traditional motors and utilizing 100% of the phase coil to create and focus the magnetic flux that eliminates the need of rare-earths to achieve the same torque density.
