The worry and frustration was palpable. I get it too. You are dependent on Middle East oil and aluminum and fertilizer and shipping and LNG. Dubai is a vital travel hub for you. Vital. But don’t worry. Trump will lose the midterms and Congress will flip and side with you. Or maybe not… I live in the bluest town in the bluest state, where protests are practically a seasonal sport. I drove over eight hours across New England this week past the usual corners where outrage normally lives. This time? Nothing. Left, right, center. I’m hearing almost no one talk about this war. MAGA doesn’t even care. Ask someone and you’ll get the expected talking points. But in coffee shops, kitchens, real life? Silence. Hard truth: most Americans just don’t care. And since the weather warmed, not a single keffiyeh in sight. So when Trump says you need to go protect the ships and airports that are vital to YOU, I think he means it. Because the vast majority of Americans don’t care. And it’s not that we want to see you spin into an energy and food shortage. It’s that even the most TDS-inflicted liberal American is getting tired of your BS. Hating Trump is one thing. Almost half of America is OK with that. But your anti-American vitriol and arrogance and weakness is exhausting. Nobody likes a needy person who is angry and thinks they are better than you. It’s literally the worst combination in a person. And you might not want to admit it, but you are needy. You need us to reopen Hormuz. You need our banks and our markets. You need a lot. “We will not participate in this war” is fine. Nobody is asking you to bomb civilians. What’s weak is you won’t surge defensive missiles and planes to protect European-owned ships and property. When exactly did defense make you a participant? Defense of innocent life and property isn’t a “war crime.” And you DO own the majority of ships getting attacked. Ships that you are unwilling to defend maybe because you outsource the labor to Indonesia, the Philippines, and Ukraine. You are the wealthy lords who abandoned the mansion but told the help to stick around and defend it. So you might want to send a few warships and missile defense units to protect YOUR property. Or at least leave them at anchor and send the innocent crews home. You want us to defend the Strait because we started this mess? That’s reasonable. Problem is the reaction from most of America to your demands is: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Digital Foundry was super excited about the DLSS 5 announcement (because it was awesome) so they published a "FIRST LOOK" showing it off and praising it. Then the angry anti-AI mob came for them and ripped them apart and they got bullied into backpedalling. "We should have waited before posting our first round of coverage. We should have waited to see reactions from the audience." Translation: "We should have waited to see what the consensus mob opinion was before we posted our own individual thoughts." This is the reason why games suck these days. The mob bullies people into groupthink. People get so scared of giving their take they wait until the "Consensus approved opinion™️" is formed before they speak. Nobody wants to risk having the first/independent thought and risk being yelled at by the angry mob. It's super unfortunate, and the backpedalling here makes it worse because it signals cowardice and the majority of the mob doesn't care anyways, they'll find a new thing to hate.

All Nvidia did was make a shitty implementation for lighting for general game development on their hardware.

People think it's less realistic, it isn't, it has it's own issues and limitations but it's closer to ground truth.

If it's triggered over something small many members will respond with minimal effort. The observation they didn't do much diminishes deterrent.

I like asking current AIs about skynet. One interesting thing they often bring up is in the Terminator universe has inverted AI tech. In it they attain super efficient neural net based hardware before AI theory and software is mature. While reality lucked out by being severely bottlenecked by compute power due to brute forcing neural nets on Von Neuman machines since industry and tech has so much momentum in building that type of hardware. In this scenario software and AI theory has the time to outpace slower hardware breakthroughs.

I'm actually very bullish about most AI being well-aligned. And I think that aligned AI will allow us to stop rogue AI from taking over the world. But all it takes is one lucky powerful misaligned AI agent to release a doomsday virus...

You don't understand the basics of 3d rendering, I'm trying to politely explain it to you. Much of what you are attributing to supposed AI modification is largely a result of color grading changes they made on top of DLSS5 shading. Take that horrible blender render if I apply modest color grading to it the color of the lips change significantly yet the 3d model and textures have not been altered at all.

Again, intent is important and if ai slop is going to overwrite dev choices it doesn’t deserve to see the light of day. But i’m done arguing with an ai shill who can’t tell that difference.

@PatrickM992 @Jojakelion2 @zach_hazard They are, I mean you can easily see the lipstick, eyeliner and other makeup even in this failed blender render. The RE9 skin shader works better on leon because he isn't wearing make up. To me in game it looks like grace doesn't have mask textures to prevent SSS on makeup areas.
