@ChadWeather@metoffice Perhaps. But in light of global conditions, I can't help but wonder if I'm witnessing a drastic change, up until the mid 2000s, I remember April as being warmer, yes showers, but not wintery.
Southern Portugal, southwest Spain & Gibraltar may see local totals of 50–75 mm of rain this weekend. This is around April’s monthly average
Thunderstorms also shift into Morocco & Algeria, where totals could reach up to 60–75 mm 🌧️
Heavy, possibly thundery showers continue to rattle through this evening, especially in the west where they may merge to give longer spells of rain ☔
Windy with coastal gales across the Irish Sea, northwest Scotland and Shetland 🌬️
@metoffice For the first time ever to me, it seems like the seasons are moving forward in line with changes in climate. Mid April and still no new leaves. It's colder now than it was in January.

Might our ancestors apparent obsession with exploration, conquest, meeting new peoples (and consequences since, i.e. history) be explained by neurobiology? We are hardwired to form new pathways, connections, experiences.

Did the Minoan eruption and other ancient catastrophes place humanity on the path of 'opposition to nature', to subdue and control through the harnessing of natural laws - use nature to control nature - to ensure survival.

Could humanity's tendency to war, conflict (in the quest for peace) along with mindless brutal violence be understood from Jungian psychology? Since the dawn we have tried to ascend out of the shadow of our irrationality.

My theory: it was the making of fire that started our making of spirituality, and eventually religious beliefs. Not only did our ancestors ignite fire for warmth, safety and cooking, they ignited their faith in the divine.
