@stellacreasy @labour4europe And you’ll need to accept full freedom of movement under rules set by the 🇪🇺with no 🇬🇧 input. Madness. The laughing stock of the previous British Empire- which you now want to be the biggest rule taker in the 🌍!! Just carry on, you’re becoming a fantastic comedian!! 😂😂😂

@stellacreasy @labour4europe How is being a rule taker a progressive way forward? You do realise that 🇨🇭 and 🇳🇴🇮🇸🇱🇮 have no say in the workings of the single market and its creation and 🇨🇭in particular has no way of influencing the SM with its THOUSANDS of agreements negotiated with the 🇪🇺? 1/2

Anyone who only seeks a customs union with Europe is clearly too frightened to make the case for freedom of movement - here’s how a Swiss model and reaching for the single market is the truly progressive way forward on Europe. Join us in @labour4europe fighting for this!

@andrewhesselden Reality check! Yes, you’re right. The UK is an ex-member that was unreliable, avoided most of the major EU projects , Schengen, euro, cut all ties with the EU and its institutions and should be treated as such.

Trump threatened to suspend the US-UK trade deal because Starmer refused to join the Hormuz blockade. Starmer’s response: “I am not going to act under pressure. This war is not in my national interest. I cannot yield.” This is America’s closest ally. The country that has followed Washington into every military engagement for 80 years. Starmer already refused the blockade. Called Israel’s bombing of Lebanon wrong from the floor of Parliament. Suspended automatic defense renewals with Israel. And now when Trump threatened the trade relationship — he didn’t move. Britain, Australia, Italy, Meloni — every ally Trump expected to follow him has said no. The blockade has no coalition.

SICK of people saying they want the old UK back. We ALL do. WE want same day GP appointments, ambulances within mins, dentists, a decent police force, good education, affordable food, clean water ways, BUT it’s not migrants who caused this. It was 14 YEARS of Tory austerity!

@DuKendrick @Smil3yAngel Schengen is slightly different as it allows non EU members such as Norway, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Iceland as members however full EU members Ireland and Cyprus are non Schengen members. So highly likely that Canada would not be a S member.

A new poll is out saying that the majority of Canadians are interested in possibly joining the European Union. 25% said they would be interested and 58% said it's worth looking into. What are your thoughts? Should Canada join the European Union? 🇨🇦🇪🇺

@dailybritainonx Apart “rejoining the EU”, had this shallower than a puddle poll actually bothered to dig a little deeper and poll whether the participants would be willing to rejoin under the current accession criteria, whereby the UK would have to join Schengen and the euro?

63% of Brits would now vote to rejoin the EU. Starmer has admitted Brexit caused "deep damage." Trump is driving us towards Europe anyway. Should the public be given another say - or would another referendum tear the country apart again?

@LaindonFEMINIST Theres VAT refunds in everything you buy in the EU, there’s duty free shipping, tradespeople are no longer having suppressed wages, VAT can be changed without needing permission to do so, bankers can have unlimited bonuses unlike the crazy EU limit of double their salary, et al.

A decade on and I’ve experienced only one Brexit benefit. We got the VAT back our purchases in Helsinki. Worth about twenty quid. But Brexit has cost me thousands in that same decade. Time to give up the ghost. Fully support Labours approach to closer ties #BeMoreStarmer

Currently sitting in Tesco car park watching multiple Asian couples stuff trolleys full of potatoes into the boots of their cars, where they will be transported to their local shops, unpackaged and sold for 5 times the price. All while hard up families miss out on these offers due to Tesco not limiting the number of items per customer. Absolute greed.

@dstephenh99 @OperaSocialist My pint is that no country is a member of CU AND SM without being full EU members. Norway, Turkey, Iceland et al are all non EU members but are not in both projects. They are only in one of them. The OP naively suggests UK could have stayed in both and left the EU. Laughable.

In 2016 the UK narrowly voted to leave the European Union. To reflect 52/48 if May had chosen to leave the EU but remain in the SM and CU most people would've been happy. She chose not to because of immigration. Look how that turned out... #Brexit

@george_kampo @dailybritainonx That’s what Starmer says today. Who knows what he’ll say tomorrow. Current shallow rejoin polls presented by the EU obsessed media are nowhere near high enough for a government to even consider a referendum to join the EU. The so called polls have a long long way to go yet.

@EdCop999 @dailybritainonx I think you'll find that nothing in modern life is set in stone. Either way, Starmer has committed the UK to closer ties with the EU, so that's reality, not a dream. It will be upto the next government of the day to do yet another U turn if 'the great British public' disagree.

Freedom of movement was one of the most contested issues in the Brexit debate. Young Brits in particular feel they lost a fundamental right in 2016. With 63% now wanting to rejoin the EU, should free movement be the first thing we restore?

@george_kampo @dailybritainonx That comes hand in hand with free movement. You either have both or neither. If you have both you also need to contribute to the EU budget. Just ask Norway how it all works.

@dailybritainonx Yes, in many instances young Brits had become used to having Europe as a weekend play ground - concerts in #Berlin , #Amsterdam , #Copenhagan. Quick trips for #Paris. Freedom of Travel inside the EU will be a huge incentive in restoring life the way it was -- and should be.

60% of the brexit vote was ABC1 middle class - 52% of entire leave vote in UK came from South Of England . Peculiar how this twisted false narrative of brexit being Working class and Northern has emerged .
TheRealScottishGooner #UTA 🔴⚪️@ScotGooner1

@BotFinderUK I don’t even think it’s the working class that are upset about the prospect of rejoining! I would love to look in to this further! It’s the wealthy interfering again I think! Maybe some working class but that’s only because they believed the lies like gullible little sheep

@BettyBoochichi2 Never see M&S contribute to any food banks in areas outside of their prosperous locations places to serve the wealthier members of society. Solely bothered about profits and their bonuses. The concern for staff is as fake as Father Christmas.

Marks & Spencer's retail director has called for a crackdown on retail crime, after a string of incidents involving shoplifting and violence at its stores. Thinus Keeve said police should be given the resources to tackle the issue, which he says is "getting worse, not better", with retail staff facing "abuse and violence in their workplace every day". M&S external affairs director Adam Hawksbee told BBC Radio 4's Today programme that stores have been targeted by organised criminal gangs, leaving staff "worried about coming into work". Police responded to reports of anti-social behaviour involving a group of "several hundred young people" last weekend in Clapham, south London. Many were seen entering an M&S. Writing in the Telegraph Keeve said he had written to London Mayor Sir Sadiq Khan urging him to provide extra support for police. It is understood the mayor will meet with M&S soon. Keeve said: "In the past week alone we have had gangs forcing open locked cabinets and stripping shelves, two men brazenly emptying the shelves of steak and walking out, a large group of young people ransacking a store before assaulting a security guard, a colleague headbutted trying to defuse a situation and another hospitalised after having ammonia thrown in their face." He added: "We need to recognise this for what it is. A systemic issue. A growing issue. And one that demands a co-ordinated response across government, policing and industry." Retail crime has become "more brazen, more organised and more aggressive", Keeve said. "We need a stronger, faster and more consistent police response, using tools that already exist to target repeat offenders and crime hotspots." M&S chief executive Stuart Machin has also written to Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood, according to Keeve. Hawksbee said that while retail crime has always existed, it "does feel in the past weeks and months that the problem is getting worse". The external affairs director said M&S had invested "tens of millions" into security but that there was "only so much you can do" without additional police intervention and more use of data to identify retail crime hotspots. A spokesperson for the mayor of London said: "Shoplifting is not a victimless crime and the mayor fully supports the Met Police's data-driven and targeted approach to tackling prolific offenders." Crime and Policing Minister Sarah Jones called the incidents "disgraceful" and urged police to use all the tools at their disposal to protect workers and punish those responsible. "We're giving police stronger powers, ending the immunity for thefts under £200 so that shoplifters can be prosecuted," she added. About 100 officers were called to Clapham High Street on Tuesday where young people were reported to be attempting to access shops and a restaurant. They also lit fires and set off fireworks on Clapham Common. Six teenage girls have been arrested after two separate incidents of anti-social behaviour "fuelled by online trends", according to the Met Police. Five people were assaulted, including four police officers. The Met said it expected more arrests would be made in the coming days. Ahead of the Bank Holiday weekend, the Met said they have increased officer numbers and put in place a "strong policing plan... to prevent and deal with any future disorder". Hawksbee said M&S bosses had been planning to contact the home secretary and London mayor prior to the Clapham incident. He called on local and national leaders to "all get round the table, roll our sleeves up and try to deal with this challenge because at the moment it feels like it's going in the wrong direction". Incidents of anti-social behaviour involving teens have been reported in other parts of the country in recent days. In Rochdale, police imposed a dispersal order on Friday and Saturday after groups were "reported to be harassing staff and causing criminal damage". Link to the article: bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

@OperaSocialist None of them are members of the CU. My point is you’re only a member if CU and SM if you are an EU member. Non EU members get one or the other, but not both. Just ask Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Turkey. Switzerland only participates in specific aspects of SM.
