@PhilipProudfoot Aside from to obvious idiocy of the idea of committing genocide against ancestors who are people that are already dead. Yes. Palestinians and Jews have a common origin. There have also been Jews living in Israel continuously for more than 3000 years. We never left.

Today’s Palestinians were once Jewish, then some became Christians, then later they became Muslims. The great stupidity of statements like this is that, if Israelis even want to make this argument, then it means they’ve committed a genocide against their ancient ancestors.

@steveplotnicki IMO the whole question is irrelevant. The organizing principle of the modern Israeli state is that Palestinians, who are unambiguously indigenous, do not have a right to their own land, while people whose indigeneity is *at best* rooted in tenuous ancient claims inherently do.
