Artistically:
- 1-2 are the original story.
- 1-4 (Japan-based regions) are classic.
- 6-7 are modern.
- 8+ are postmodern. "Gen" is no longer a meaningful term since each game is now isolated.
Mechanically, 1-5 (2D/Classic) and 6-9 (3D/Modern) is the most important distinction.

Okay so how do yall mentally divide pokemon gens? For me, Gen 1 and 2 are the “originals” Gens 1 thru 4 are “classic pokemon” Gens 5 is a weird limbo where it doesn’t feel classic or modern. Feels very unique in its identity Gens 6-9 are “modern pokemon”

@AramyxFun I wish they added a couple 'heartbeat' scenes in the other route, because I feel like that's where a lot of people mistakenly get the belief that she (in narrative) stays emotionless in other routes

Like Caspar just kind of stands there while Mercedes and Death Knight have a heart to heart, and as a result Caspar, someone who's already pretty underdeveloped, doesn't even get a paralogue

@fetwtconfession I actually liked the unique parings for prologues. It made the characters feel more connected and the world feel more lived in. Really showed how the characters were developing their own relationships away from Byleth

Caspar, Dorothea and Linhardt just ride on Mercedes, Ingrid and Leonie's paralogues.
Lysithea is the one who rides on Ferdinand's.
Bernadetta and Petra's is hilarious because Byleth hates Bernie there for no reason.

Imo they should have played up the insurrectionist trying to temp Byleth angle more, have her actually try talking politics instead of vagueposting about it all

Fire Emblem is an elite force against an army through smart tactics- servants are themselves army level at baseline, and Saber is no normal servant
