honestly the genius of including starfleet academy and professor sideshow bob is that it creates an unfalsifiable test. if you cite this paper you definitively did not read it. there's no plausible deniability. you can't claim you skimmed it and missed the issues because the issues are cartoon characters in the acknowledgments section. the researcher didn't just expose AI citation laundering, he built a perfect detector for human citation laundering and caught both simultaneously

All of that is happening in the same environment where a condition funded by a Simpsons character and endorsed by the crew of the Enterprise was being presented as emerging medical consensus. The people making these deployment decisions seem to believe the pipeline from research to AI to patient is more supervised than it actually is.
