The palms are first solemnly blessed by the priest and then distributed to the faithful. Holding these blessed palms, the congregation joins in a procession, singing hymns of praise just as the people once cried “Hosanna to the Son of David!” A beautiful and ancient custom follows. The procession approaches the closed doors of the church, symbolizing the gates of Jerusalem. The priest knocks on the door with the cross, and the doors are opened, recalling Christ the King entering the Holy City. With palms in hand and hearts full of devotion, the faithful then enter the church to celebrate the Holy Qurbana, marking the beginning of the solemn journey of Holy Week. 🌿✝️ Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.
