@Lockst3p @RayOfFantasy I’m not saying they can’t be flawed. I’m saying the degree and framing of those flaws can still matter for how the character reads as representation.
English

@HiHello370083 @RayOfFantasy this isnt about comparing faults
i think the point is let the trans rabbit be a terrible person. some people are calling Jax a "bad trans rep "because of the stuff they do, but trans characters should be able to fill the roles of good, and horrible characters.
English

I will say it.
Queer characters should be allowed to be flawed, to be messy, to majorly screw up.
Like any other character in fiction that happens to be straight or CIS.
And it's not faulty writing: it's about depicting people with nuance, whether they're LGBTQ+ or not.

@LexaCola1 @purgatis Strawman argument
I’m not claiming trans people or trans characters can’t be flawed or even terrible. I’m talking about whether the narrative meaningfully engages with those flaws, not whether they’re allowed to exist.
English

@HiHello370083 @purgatis “Awful people don’t exist, trans people are incapable of being evil and fucked up”
English

*Names every quality of a trans repper*
“Worst representation ever”

-A dick to everyone because shes projecting -Denies any help -Kills herself Congrats gooseworx you wrote the worst trans rep ever
English

@Kinocha__ @DrunkGenuine @reallifeuzi I’m saying the words ‘imprisoned’ or ‘self-imprisonment’ don’t really match what’s shown if she’s being cared for and supported by the others. You can absolutely interpret her condition as tragic or limiting, but that’s different from describing it as confinement.
English

@HiHello370083 @DrunkGenuine @reallifeuzi And she's still forever changed and will never get to live like and with the rest of them ever again. Just because shes a little comfortable in her eternal self imprisonment doesn't mean she's just perfectly fine
English

STOP INFANTILIZING US. STOP THINKING WE CAN'T BE BAD PEOPLE. STOP ACTING LIKE CLOSETED DYSPHORIA CAN'T BE PORTRAYED AS THE NIGHTMARE THAT IT IS OR THAT IT CAN'T HAVE MASSIVE RIPPLE EFFECTS ON SOMEONE'S MENTAL HEALTH. OH MY GOD YOU GUYS ARE PISSING ME OFF

@Kinocha__ @DrunkGenuine @reallifeuzi Strawman
I’m talking specifically about accountability vs consequence. A tragic ending can exist without the character ever confronting their actions, and that’s what I’m pointing out
English

@HiHello370083 @DrunkGenuine @reallifeuzi So you'd be fine living as a half-awake blob in an Aquarium? And the story was never about accountability. Who cares if she was never held accountable? The story doesnt pretend she was, thats not the point
English

@Penblup @synwithagrine @TransWinterDyke Slow TADC fan says using he/her pronouns on a character that is fine with he/her pronouns is weird
English

@synwithagrine @TransWinterDyke The fact you use he on her says a lottttttt of u
English

He is horrible rep tho. Jax is a walking transfem stereotype. The writers sat down and decided to make their transfem character a misogynistic abuser that also has weird sexual fantasies about one of the women he abuses.

Hi Hello retweeté

Jax isn't trans, because he never identified as such, it's the logic of forcing an identity on him because the creator disliked him enough to claim: 'it would have been better for everyone if he was groomed and cucked'. It's literally the creator projecting their kinks.
🍉Ray of Fantasy (Pentious & Stolas fan!)@RayOfFantasy
I've used he/him pronouns for Jax, up until this point. But now that Jax being trans is confirmed, I don't know what pronouns to use. The show still uses he/him after the reveal. But the song and a couple of VAs use she/her. I want to be respectful: how should I refer to Jax?
English

@whit3merican @DelusionPosting just say you wanna fuck minors my nigga it’s ok
niggas here r so retarded
English

@VerzTre0n @RayOfFantasy his mom, Ribbit, and kaufmo are not two people.
English

@SOL__T_Amo_Dayn @Ilovesunburnn @RayOfFantasy 1. You don’t know that
2. You don’t know that abstraction isn’t death or not, that’s just a headcanon made by TADC fans trying to cope with their favorites being gone
English

@HiHello370083 @Ilovesunburnn @RayOfFantasy 1. Lo es, si despues sigue libre es porque su madre ESTA BIEN.
2. Es verdad, aunque sea gran parte de la culpa en la abstracción de Ribbit, sigue sin ser muerte.
3. Eso si.

@Jaiydanimate Why can’t people like you ever see the gap between “I kill people close to me, and I harass people who did nothing to me, and I’m not saying sorry” and “I’m a flawed individual, I’ve done stuff wrong, but I can hold myself accountable and I can learn from those experiences.”
English

I don't like seeing this world where you seemingly aren't allowed any Sympathy at all unless you're nothing but a Good, Spotless person 100% of the time.
Because people like that don't exist. I dread to imagine how you navigate life with such an empty hole in your heart.
🍋Lemonssss🍉@dewthelemondew
I don't care if she has a tragic backstory or if she's trans, I'm not showing sympathy for Jax.
English

@LinodegliAllori @kolapon_art Agree to disagree, but to someone who actually creates stories for some bit of living and has that kind of experience under her belt, I personally find the pacung was fine for what the story conveyed. If you want it differently, then do it differently yourself with your own works

I don't think the show ever planned to show us the process of abstraction
It does these sudden, jarring cuts to people already having abstracted three separate times and the suddeness is what the show is going for (1/3)
English

@PossiblyK9 My nigga there’s a HUGE LINE between “I intentionally killed 3 people including my mother and consistently harassed a woman to the point of tears each day and I’m not saying sorry” and “I’m a perfect Mary sue that makes no mistakes and is ALWAYS a good person!”
English

It feels really dehumanizing as a trans person that “good representation” always as to be the most merry sue shit ever, we always have to be depicted as can do no wrong and any depiction of a trans person being a bad person is “harmful rep” I’m so tired
Mai 🌼🌸@maikrisyay
im so pissed off rn
English

@LexaCola1 @purgatis You can write a trans person with flaws? The problem here is that Jax is an awful person.
English

@LexaCola1 @purgatis My nigga there’s a HUGE LINE between “I intentionally killed 3 people including my mother and consistently harassed a woman to the point of tears each day and I’m not saying sorry” and “I’m a perfect Mary sue that makes no mistakes and is ALWAYS a good person!”
English

@LexaCola1 genuinely just typing anything to defend Jax
None of those are even decent qualities nigga
Js bait atp
English

@Ilovesunburnn @RayOfFantasy 1. You don’t know that
2. That’s not true
3. He’s part of the problem
English

@HiHello370083 @RayOfFantasy 1. Didnt kill her mother
2. Didnt intentionally (or even unintentionally) kill ribbit, abstraction is not death
3. Kaufmo simply wasnt her fault at all
English

@Kinocha__ @DrunkGenuine @reallifeuzi Nobody is saying abstraction is a happy ending. The disagreement is whether that tragedy functions as accountability for Jax’s actions, not whether the outcome itself is sad. (It isn’t btw)
English

@DrunkGenuine @HiHello370083 @reallifeuzi Yeah I really don't see how this can be considered anything other than tragic and sad. Like, in the same vein do we think the other abstractions are doing just fine? I guess all their trauma that led to abstraction is just fine actually
English

@DrunkGenuine @Kinocha__ @reallifeuzi You’re treating a symbolic reading as a literal fact. The ending doesn’t show Jax being abandoned or imprisoned, it shows the others making accommodations for her and continuing to care about her.
English

@HiHello370083 @Kinocha__ @reallifeuzi she cant talk, have emotions or ever have the capacity to finalize her redemption in any capacity.
She doesn't really have anywhere to go (mind you, there's just the circus and nothing else) and she doesn't have a room anymore
She is literally locked away from paradise
English

@Kinocha__ @reallifeuzi Also I really don’t like this claim “well jax abstracted so that means the show DID hold him accountable!!” When that isn’t true.
English

@HiHello370083 @reallifeuzi At no point does the finale try to paint Jax as a good person. Jax isnt redeemed, isnt forgiven, and doesnt get to escape with no consequences. Jax will live for literal eternity in a half dead half alive fever dream state of broken abstraction.
