ICU Neurology Secrets: I know that this may sound a revolutionary idea for people that live & breathe "protocols" but if a patient with stroke symptoms has a CT brain at 11:00 am followed by t-PA infusion & next am at 09:00 undergoes brain MRI, she does not CT brain at 11:00 😊

A lot of people don’t know this: many hospitals in the States have no trainees/residents, so an attending takes the in-hospital call. It is 3:00 am now and if you visit our 200-bed hospital, the only physicians you will find are the ED attending, the hospitalist and me.

@IM_Crit_ Well, why are you working this mich as an Intensivist? I wonder. My attendings is never there at after-hours unless he's involved in Anaesthesia on the same day. I'm left to liaise with them over the phone.

@DrCanuckMD Hahaha. As an ICU attending I would give him my standard line of “please go home…read a mystery novel… and find a fucking clue”

Good to know that an interventional cardiologist doesn’t consider the survivor and family’s perspective important enough to teach them anything. I sure hope @njohncamm just wasn’t aware of @DGlaucomflecken’s cardiac arrest.

Did my dad help you on September 11, 2001? If so, I'm trying to find you. (a thread) On September 11th, 2001 my dad caught a flight in Ohio to fly home to Denver. He was there on business and was anxious to get home to see his family. (1/11)

Weird how some physicians start to care about/pay attention to the nursing shortage when they see nurses being paid what they’re worth…

@IntensivistDoc @CeeRussell @shesinscrubs For what it’s worth - not all of us take offense to this. I use the same verbiage when referencing the docs that I work with, usually in a sentence in which I’m feeling protective of them. Thank you for advocating for your colleagues.

@JaymetheRN @PhilStudge @shesinscrubs You are spot on! I was told that my support of the nursing staff was adding fuel to the fire in creating a hostile work environment 🤯🤬 that woke up papa bear. I’ll continue to advocate.

When a bunch of docs and nurses quit and a hospital is about to collapse, please, everyone, before you leave that hospital… Make sure to send 🍕 to admin. Finding staffing is hard. They need to know they are the real heros.

@GolsRpalliative @jmugele That happened to me literally 5 minutes ago by a patient’s family member. To which I replied “can I call your loved one a murderer for passing the virus onto your mom who I just coded 2 hours ago” 🤷🏻‍♂️
