As I speculated earlier this week, the IL Secretary of State has rejected FMCSA’s preliminary finding that at least 20% of all non domiciled CDLs—-truck driver’s licenses given to foreigners, some here illegally, who don’t officially reside in the state—were issued in violation of federal law. It also appears IL SOS will not revoke the specific CDLs that FMCSA identified in its audit sample. This includes CDLs issued to foreigners whose work authorization had expired and/or did not otherwise provide required documents. A few CDLs were issued to drivers who did not identify a country of origin. If IL SOS refuses to cooperate with terms provided by FMCSA, Illinois could lose up to $128 million in federal funds so IL can keep issuing truck driver’s licenses to foreigners.

We just won Missouri v. Biden. ICE needs to leave the airports NOW. Trump needs to pay TSA workers NOW, and push Republicans to reach a deal. No intimidation forces at our airports. No more chaos at checkpoints. Enough is enough.

SAVE ACT: Rumor has it Leader Thune has a deal that allows Senators to go on their 14-day paid vacation. It would restore funding for the TSA in exchange for stripping out ICE enforcement funding from the DHS bill. The deal kills the Save America Act and gives states money if they implement voter ID but removes any requirement to check that voters are citizens. The good news is that their vacation has been saved.

The DHS deal under consideration would fund all of DHS except for ICE's deportation wing, known as ERO (Enforcement & Removal Operations). Those are the frontline ICE agents you see. ICE has two major branches, ERO and HSI (Homeland Security Investigations). HSI typically focuses on human trafficking, sex trafficking, human smuggling etc. though the Trump administration has been using them for immigration enforcement as well. It sounds like HSI would be funded under this deal, but ERO would not. (ERO is funded with OBBB money through 2029, but their civilian support staff are not.) Democrats would not get the major reforms they had been demanding (unmasking, judicial warrants, etc) as part of this deal. Thoughts?

You’ve chosen to limit cooperation with federal immigration enforcement and advance sanctuary policies, but you haven’t put equally strong safeguards in place to protect your own citizens and uphold public safety. You favor illegal immigrants and provide special privileges and consideration which citizens are not entitled to. You cannot have it both ways. You don’t get to deflect blame when the consequences surface. If you choose to sideline federal frameworks, the responsibility doesn’t disappear, it shifts squarely onto your shoulders. That means owning the outcomes, not pointing fingers when things go wrong. Right now, what’s missing isn’t just policy clarity, it’s accountability. Leadership isn’t about ideology; it’s about responsibility. If your policies create gaps, you answer for those gaps. If your approach introduces risk, you confront it directly. Silence, deflection, and blame-shifting aren’t leadership, they’re avoidance. So you’re either the governor of Illinois, or you’re not. Leadership means owning the outcomes of your decisions, not shifting responsibility when those decisions are questioned. Either you take responsibility for the system you’ve built, or you admit it isn’t working. But refusing to do either erodes trust and leaves the public without clear answers from the person ultimately in charge. And silence on cases like Katie’s only deepens the sense that responsibility is being avoided. Say her name: Katie Abraham.

The subpoena released this morning by Chuck Grassley in connection with the fraudulent Arctic Frost investigation is absolutely staggering. It didn’t just ask for Kash Patel’s phone records, it asked for everything he did from 2020 to 2023. Just to name a few, they requested all usernames and screen names, every address and email, complete billing and payment details including credit card and bank account numbers, every device ID, and a full log of every call, text, and voicemail showing who was contacted, when, and for how long. They also obtained all internet session data, including the exact IP addresses. So this wasn’t just about who Kash called. It was basically a complete view of his entire life, mapping his daily routines, travel, relationships, finances, and even tracking the specific hardware he used. In short, they got a full digital shadow of his life. To have come through all of this without so much as a scratch tells you just how clean he is.
