@Garnet_2203 Let me help. Imagine a bill called ending violence against children. Everyone should support. Within bill I’d put all sorts of things: telecom regulation, taxation, the refrigerant allowed in air conditioners, etc If you oppose bill, you are a monster who hates children.

This week, Bill C-16 passed. But there were 40 MP’s that voted no. Every single one of them are Conservative MP’s. Including Durham MP Jamil Jivani. The bill includes measures to strengthen protections for women and children, including recognizing femicide as first-degree murder in certain circumstances, creating a coercive control offence, and increasing penalties for child predators. Yet 40 Conservative MPs voted NO. Can someone explain why? Conservatives routinely criticize crime, “catch and release” justice, and weak penalties for offenders. So why vote against legislation that strengthens protections for victims, women, and children? I’m especially interested in hearing from Jamil Jivani, who is currently touring the country speaking about men’s health and well-being. Protecting women from violence and protecting children from predators should be something all parties can support. The bill passed. But constituents deserve to know why their MP voted against it.

Today, our government introduced new legislation to protect our kids online. Canada's Safe Social Media Act will hold social media and AI platforms accountable, make them safer, and restrict access to social media for children under 16. More and more kids are suffering from anxiety, depression, self-harm, and exploitation. To keep our kids safe, we have to ensure that our laws keep up with technology.

From Southport to Belfast, we keep seeing the same pattern: a terrible crime, followed by racist mobs attacking black and brown people who had nothing to do with it. These are pogroms. I woke up to more disgusting incidents in Belfast by the far-right. They checked cars for black and brown people before allowing them to pass. Black and brown people were beaten up. Their businesses destroyed. Their homes and cars destroyed Arson attacks carried out. Muslim families pleaded with white neighbours to let them stay overnight for safety. Children were in fear and crying, thinking they and their parents would be harmed. I’m heartbroken this is happening in the UK. This is a national emergency -WE ARE UNSAFE - Keir Starmer and Shabana Mahmood MUST get the army on the streets across Britain immediately.
