@arcadioenjoyer @aussiewongm Easy fix, go to 10 carriage configuration. An immediate 30% increase in train capacity. Now where are the 210, spare carriages we need to do this? Also need to extend a bunch of non metro station platforms to cope with now 225m long trains, up from the current 160m length.

Somehow missed this daftness from late last year.
I cannot begin to understand the mentality that when your kid gets run over by a negligent driver, you focus on badgering children to wear more safety gear rather than blame the driver/cars/roads.

@AussieWirraway I can understand long distance coaches not being ready for the EV transition, but no reason why regional city route buses should be exempt? I'm assuming their routes are of similar lengths to Melb routes?

@PierreVairo In the country operators are still buying and receiving diesel buses (e.g. no electric buses in Ballarat or Bendigo). It's unclear when country operators have to switch because the logistics of it are much harder than urban areas (especially long distance coaches)

The KL Putrajaya line is pretty cool, fully automated and mostly elevated. You can see the Malaysia Special: condo towers on top of a massive podium structure with more than 10 floors of parking connected by massive expressways...

Is there any other country that builds skyscrapers this way, with gigantic 10+ story above-ground garages built into the base? Or is it just an American thing?

@PierreVairo Would be about 2% of public buses in Melbourne (100 out of 4500), and given that new full diesel buses were still being delivered up until late last year, it'll be a very long time until they disappear from the roads
