@OperationalInc1 Agreed. The PSOs were and remain a critical key in the night-time network. Easy to forget how unsafe people felt before.

@AppleSlipper Ages never meant anything for them to begin with, that's even before the lack of meaningful continuity.

AnimeLab ruled, they had Yoshiaki Kawajiri movies, Astro Boy, so many 90's and early 2000's shows. It wasn't just limited to whatever 2010's flavour-of-the-month shows Crunchyroll had.
I will never forgive Funimation for gutting the anime industry in this country.

@TemporalFreeze The Boy and the Heron I think was last Crunchyroll blu-ray I got from JB, just because I felt a completionist in me. I haven't bothered since though with any of their re-releases.
English

@TemporalFreeze Oh heck you're right. They must of wanted to move away from the old Madman store infrastructure and now gave up lol.
Honestly the expensive Demon Slayer blu-ray was so lazy and no effort that I haven't bought anything from that store since then.
English

The death of Madman's anime side also brought to an end local subtitles. Since then we've been offered only American subtitles. Crunchyroll's Australian arm might as well not exist for what little they actually do.

This also affected the physical distribution of anime in Australia since Madman's anime division joined up with Funimation, only to be absorbed by Sony and Crunchyroll.

@YbsGames I knew it was cooked when the theatrical release of The Boy and the Heron (which made ~$4 million at the local box office) didn't bother to do any tweaks of the subtitles into Australian English.
It might seem like small potatoes, but it simply displayed a total lack of effort.
English

@markdavaus It is depressing constantly reading terms like elementary school, freshman, trash can, etc. in the subtitles of every anime release. Somehow even Japanese media is Americanising my vocabulary now.
English

@TheRamHandler I do, it was so much better than Crunchyroll. I also miss having subtles in Australian English (UK really). Mum instead of mom etc
