@Quickads_ai was selected to present at @saasboomi annual. Happy and surprised we were among 5 shortlisted to present at such a global stage with all leading Saas founders in the audience. I spoke without a script because best things come from the heart I shared without holding back because sharing is compounding karma I went (despite mother being in hospital) because speaking to 1500 founders with boisterous unicorn founders to quiet killers from Surat is what quickads needs. That's how committed I am on quickads potential. Nice sessions on SEO and inbound marketing by hands-on founders. Maza aaya (was fun) ❤️👍🙏 and I do think Saas is a cottage industry in India now. Onwards and stronger than ever before. Quickads is growing beyond my imagination. To the point that we have SWITCHED OFF anymore sign-ups; if v1 had so much demand then wait for v3 coming out. The demo we showed was well received and got very good feedback on differentiated product. For those who know me personally - they know I am eccentric and obsessed on problem statements. Stepped out for first “social business visit” in 6 months. Next 2 months not even moving out of my house. No drinks. No coffees. Total focus on what matters - product. Do you believe in serendipity? Here is my personal story. Nothing but the truth .... and some gratitude. Depressed brown guy in a black suit sitting in a corner office: 1 year back, I was CEO of a large corporation making 2M$ per year and done multiple angel investments in VC funded companies (some are unicorns!). But, I was feeling MISERABLE in my role. Ever heard of a golden handcuff in mid-life crisis? Eureka moment: As part of growing our digital subsidary I stumbled upon @acquiredotcom and met @nico_jeannen for his micro saas acquisition. @nico_jeannen I started talking. The acquisition didn't go through (as others moved faster than I could even write a board paper for approval and everyone laughing at me that 60k USD for a top ranked PH product is a scam). It was like raking a red pill and suddenly I realized a) AI is changing everythign b) there is a HUGE world out there of self-funded / minimal funded real sustainable businesses to be built and sold. 6 months later (and some crazy events) I left the job and started 88ventures.org to build and support real use case Micro-SaaS businesses. @Quickads_ai is our main anchor platform and very early days but happy to report that: 1) Within 2 months of launch we are breakeven and growing 65% month on month. 2) Team is and will be "revenue funded" from here on. No company will ever be more than 5 people and team decides what to reinvest in the business vs. hiring more vs. taking profits back to the team. Crazy but true experiment! I also did a LOT of mistakes - wrong expensive senior hires and moon lighting employees. Firing at short-notice someone I really liked personally. I personally screwed up on many things. 1-year view: I have been burnt out to the point of literally sleeping on the floor and going to hospital in October to get IV shots (intravenous fluid). I could have had a happy semi-retired life but there was something in me telling I have to DO this real contrarian bet. Last 6 months has been the best professional experience. Learnt more in 6 months than 10 years in strategy consulting (and hence @strategy_parody? - no offence to my ex-colleagues still wearing a suit and advising fortune 100 companies about AI without writing a single line of code). Any thoughts? Advice to every mid life executive who is on the sidelines - Just DO it!. Everyone should try entrepreneurship at least once and know if it's for you or not. The flight path may change but you have to beleive in the end goal, which in my case is an AI-first content marketing suite of products. Crazy? Better to be VC funded? Nope because I want to grow into the business and not be forced into it. Also, product led growth is NOT at all easy and you need to have a hacker mindset. Do you have it in you? Today marks the 1 day of me taking that 'red pill'. Wanted to say thank you to @nico_jeannen for always being there when I had a question (still hoping to 'work' together formally someday) and now meeting some similar minded people like @johnrushx and @santiagopoli. Amazing to learn from you guys. I will be sharing back to my followers a no-bullshit Product Led Growth guide for microsaas. What helped @Quickads_ai breakeven within 2 months WITHOUT a single $ spent on ads or influencer marketing - perhaps a record of its own and we are just getting started. So embarassed of even the current version but wait for a month.
