He was on the roster in 2009, but backed out to fight for a Nats rotation spot in ST. And he’s on the roster this year.

The trade happened so late that John Carlson was asleep and didn’t find out until this morning. Tough trade for the Caps obviously, but their play since the break forced them to be realistic (Dowd trade as well). Having said that, they tried on Connor Garland and will try to add a piece today if possible.

News: Dan Kolko will succeed Bob Carpenter doing play-by-play on Nationals broadcasts this year, according to multiple people familiar with the decision. Kolko filled in regularly for Carpenter last year and has been a part of Nats coverage in various roles since 2012.

@uwcollect @CharlieSlowes @DaveJageler Charlie and Dave have given no indication that they want to leave radio to do TV broadcasts. They seem happy where they are. And they’re fantastic, so we’re all better for it (I also have synced up the radio a lot).

@RandomDCathlete Spot on …. I honestly thought they should just give the job to @CharlieSlowes & @DaveJageler …. I sync up the radio broadcasts to the tv… for a majority of the season they were the only reason to keep the game on

@barrysvrluga Everything you said here is true. Kolko is wonderful, and he is very skilled as a sideline reporter/in the studio for pre/post game. Not as a full time PBP guy.
