So the $3.5 billion investment agreement upon, Bettman said, includes the expansion fee and cost of building a new arena. Whether that is in Houston or Austin. Again, that’s if the NHL decides to move ahead with either. There was no owner vote on this today.

Bettman said they’ve agreed to a $3.5 billion total investment fee and closing arena build if they go ahead with expansion to Houston or Austin with the Friedkin family. All part of the terms sheet which has been agreed to. Bettman said the process will take six months to decide if it’s a go or not

Gary Bettman says they’ve been in discussion with the Friedkin family for two years on exploring potential expansion in Houston or Austin. Both cities would require new arena. The NHL will decide over time whether or not to move forward as they explore it and in which market.
