@WomenSpeakTas The money is consistently supporting the TQ so AHRC will consistently advocate against sex-based rights

Today we attended the Australian Human Rights Commission seminar in Hobart. We will do a proper report soon but something definitely hasn't changed and it's the fact that Anna Cody thinks that CEDAW has an inclusive definition of woman which includes Trans-identified males. I guess she is consistent in her misreading of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women

@WomenSpeakTas After years of searching, The only definition of woman I have found in Australian law Is in the Workplace Gender Equality Act Which refers to sex and not gender identity. Maybe someone should tell the Commissioner.

My daughter (3yo) and I were walking through an aisle when an older man approached us. He was smiling and seemed friendly enough at first. Without much conversation, he pulled out a lollipop and tried to offer it directly to her. Before my toddler could even react, I calmly said, “No, thank you.” My daughter also declined immediately, which honestly made me feel a little proud in the moment. She’s learning to respond the same way I do. But instead of accepting that, he kept going. He leaned in again, still trying to hand it to her, speaking to her directly like I hadn’t just said “No” politely. It wasn’t aggressive, but it also wasn’t respectful of the boundary that had already been set. So I stepped in more firmly. I took the lollipop from his hand, repeated, “No, thank you,” and placed it on a nearby counter. I didn’t raise my voice, I didn’t make a scene, I just made it very clear that the answer wasn’t changing. And that’s when the tone shifted. He said I was…

But you are teaching your daughter to be rude. You have no right to impose your boundaries on someone else's generosity. If you dont want your daughter eating candy, I understand. Many older ppl dont understand what we do about sugar. So just take the sucker and tell him thank you and that you will save it for later. Explain to your daughter that its better to show gratitude. Instead you made yourself the bad guy. You ruined an old man's day who was just trying to be kind. And you taught your daughter to do the same. I wouldnt have let my child eat that piece of candy either. But I would have been kind and gracious to the old man. We both have boundaries. But you become a rude control freak when yours are crossed. You shoukd work on that.

Just booked my imaginary 15-year-old sad daughter for breast amputation in another EU country. I asked if the surgeon would need referral/info from her psychiatrist and the woman from the clinic said it would be better *not* to add that to “the story”.

Equality Australia, the largest LGBTQI+ lobby group in the country, is seemingly worried that lesbians might get rights.

@TMFScottP Maybe governments need to spend money on checking their legislation is going to stand up in court before passing it. It would have saved heaps of money instead of going through the court, benefitting grifting lawyers.🥱

It's an unpopular view, but I think this is an excellent result. The right to protest is something we should guard zealously - as a principle, but if you need extra incentive, in case one day you're the protestor.
Prof Ben Saul - UN SR Human Rights & Counterterror@profbensaul

I welcome the NSW Court of Appeal's finding today that the NSW protest laws implemented after the Bondi terrorist attack impermissibly burdened the implied constitutional freedom of political communication and are invalid. Summary of judgment soon to be published

BREAKING: 🇺🇸 Former U.S. Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton: "It is shocking that Trump said no one informed him that Iran could close the Strait of Hormuz. I find it unbelievable that one of the fundamental pillars of geopolitical strategy in the Middle East was ignored. That was the first thing we assumed Iran would do. It is their main tool of global leverage. We are now seeing the consequences of a foreign policy driven by impulse rather than strategy.

@HelenWebberley It’s an abuse of power too. Many patients are vulnerable in a hospital setting and would not feel confident to speak out. Perhaps patients who she misgenders might ask their visiting friends & relatives to refer to her as “mister” and “he” and see how she likes it?

How ever can a nurse employed by the NHS, regulated by the NMC, consider it appropriate to decide whether or not she will use the pronouns a patient has clearly expressed they wish to be addressed by?
