In mid-December last year, I saw an opportunity to create a flagship experience for the first Solana gaming console, and that decision led me to this moment!!! I am excited to share that I just submitted Vortiq to the @playsolana Matrix Hackathon. Vortiq is a Web3 asteroid shooter built on Solana, a fast-paced arcade game where your wallet is your identity, your tokens are your power-ups, and your scores are recorded on-chain. The Game Destroy incoming asteroids before they destroy you. Waves get faster and bigger the longer you survive. You get 3 lives, real-time scoring, and 4 activatable power-ups mid-game: Shield, Multi-Bullet, Freeze Time, and Full Lives, none of which are free. You buy them in-game with $PLAY(@playsolana native token). ⛓️ The Web3 Stack - Solana wallet connection via @MagicBlock SDK - In-game marketplace — purchase power-ups with $PLAY - Full Jupiter DEX swap embedded directly in the game (swapping as low as 0.003 SOL) - Global leader board authenticated via Unity Gaming Services, linked to your wallet address - Built With Unity 6 · Solana Unity SDK · @MagicBlock · @JupiterExchange API · @unity Gaming Services · Android + WebGL This was one of the most challenging and rewarding builds I've done, integrating real on-chain mechanics, wallet-native transactions, and a DEX swap all inside a live game. Every crash, every bug, every breakthrough was worth it. Huge respect to @PlaySolana, @0xjay, @vitorhsr99 for creating this opportunity. Excited to share that I’ve been awarded a $3,000 grant from from Solana Foundation Nigeria Grants @SuperteamNG to continue building games on Solana. This grant will allow me to accelerate my work in blockchain game development. As part of this grant, I’ll also be creating technical content series, hosting livestreams and a workshop for the community to help more developers build and ship on Solana.
