How to prevent wound infection after enterostomy closure? Check out this trick. Credit: Learned it from Mike Chen from Birmingham/AL during my Endosurgery fellowship in 2010. Since then no more wound inf., esp. after colostomy closure. Comment?

One of the most important studies that should put an end to not to give defunctioning temporary ileostomy in the setting of ultra low colorectal / anal anastomosis. Our routine is any anastomosis one can reach with DRE ( More or less within 4 cm from anorectal ring) = divert

@FezaRemziMD Only shows 90 day lake rate, wel all know that longterm rates are equal and these late leaks are harder to treat. In stoma group more complications, higher ICU stay, longer hospital stay and higher readmissions.
