The Austrian argument “a mud pie requires labor but is worthless” attacks a straw man. Marx knew perfectly well that labor must be socially necessary and produce use-value.

The dream of China surpassing the U.S. as the world’s largest economy is fading. In 2021, China’s GDP was about 78% of the U.S.; by 2024, that share had fallen to roughly 64%, back to around 2017 levels, with the gap between the two economies doubling in just a few years.

the 10:1 thing is funny because the lowest amount any CEO could be on is like £250,000 a year which yes is an obscene amount of money for anyone, so everyone should get a fucking grip about it as a policy

a rigorous “discipline” to become part of academia. There is no rigorous tenure review process here, Most of them are just most any old therapist who is willing to take a relatively low paying gig teaching. It’s not a badge of credibility about a specific subject matter.

On Domesticity I have seen quite a few posts floating around today on how women are never needed at home, because of modern appliances. Obviously this ignores all of the labor of child rearing. But even if we set children to the side, people do not seem to realize that prior to the federal income tax and payroll tax most homes that were middle class and above had domestic servants. This book is a great read on pre-Baby boom life. (1920-1945) temple.manifoldapp.org/read/domestici…
