@elaifresh Universities need to tolerate far more sexist opinions than a regular workplace. They are supposed to discover truths about potentially uncomfortable subjects. Closing the overton window on acceptable speech at work is far more destructive than it is for a widget maker

@MostlyMonkey It’s tough because there’s a version of this where she’s basically right and the guy is being particularly sexist and dismissive to female students (and not males) …but it does seem much more likely that that stuff was ~mild and the “hell” is self-made

Many of you continue to make the mistake that we should try to fix the universities. The best way to fix them is to starve them of the money that allowed them to support so many of this type of person. Bloat leads to lack of mission clarity leads to political capture

Until Levent's tweet is given the imprimatur of a member of the sanctified journalist class, it's not a sufficient source, per Wikipedia standards. But the tweet *is* the counterexample to the conjecture, so by any REASONABLE standard, it should be a sufficient citation.
