The Arcane Texas Fact of the Day: It was 54 years ago today, on March 9, 1972, that citizens of Lubbock voted to allow the sale of beer and liquor by the drink at establishments within the city limits, putting an end to its claim as the largest dry city in the United States. However, with bottled alcoholic beverages not available within the city limits, "The Strip" developed at the edge of town in the years following. One reader told me that she loved going to The Strip with her dad when she was a young girl because it was like a "mini Las Vegas, with all the lights they had. It was kind of exciting for a youngster in Lubbock." Looking at this photo, which is courtesy the @LAJ_Photo , I can see that. Any of y'all have any memories?

@DanIsett Tech just won their first conference championship since 1994. First outright in 70 years. First double digit win season since 2008. First ever 12 win season. Finally made an appearance in CFP rankings. Sit the fuck down until you do anything with some semblance of consistency.
