This is an interesting take!! Contrarian to 99% of wall street! I would love to hear more if you have anytime to expand on this.. maybe in a substack??! I've always considered the idea that price was a lagging indicator. That there were things under the hood that leads way before price But you're philosophy is that its a LEADING indicator and you have two decades of proof to back that. Something that everyone needs to learn now that took me 20yr + to learn. Macro doesn't mean anything. Chart is what matters, price leads. Everything else is just noise at the right time that lines up with the chart. You watch charts long enough, you will see what I mean.

To any and all beginners entering the game, here is a list of people who I learned from, made me money, and what they taught me that has been the most useful regarding the markets. @TheMarketRaven taught me: 1) That the big ballers who really have skin in the game (i'll define "big ballers" as approx 10M+ and perhaps over 50M+ combined across multiple books) don't post cars and watches like children trying to market a service. 2) The market doesn't give a damn and you need to take profits when you see it because there will 100% be another opportunity. Fomo shouldn't exist in an environment with unlimited opportunities. See the profit, take it. Who cares. 3) From Raven, I learned that simplicity in all things is key to making money. Yea you can learn about macroeconomics and geopolitical events and internals and gamma radiation flow and ICT and bookmap. Or you can just follow price and you'll just as easily make money. 4) Lastly, Raven showed me a vulnerable side not too long ago when he was asked why he does what he does. And his response was somewhere along the lines of, "This game is lonely. Not a lot of people get it. Hard to find your people. You guys on X are my people, so I'm just here trying to help. I have f*ck you money, I don't have to do this. But I do, because I get it." @tomstockslab taught me: 1) That when you develop a love for something, the $$ just isn't enough. You'll want to learn more, explore more, and just collect more data. 2) In a world of coin-toss mentalities, Tom showed me a process to filter noise. Macros > Fundamentals > Technicals. Macro events matter first. They supersede price and even an amazing company. Great company means nothing if macros aren't aligned. Fundamentals second because shit company means shit stock. Period. Technicals are simply a reflection of the former 2. 3) In regards to options, opt for time. Interestingly, the longer the hold time the higher probability of profits. Use profits from options to purchase shares and establish the book. Rinse, repeat. 4) lastly, Tom showed me and demonstrated to me that cool heads prevail. You'll simply make more money being optimistic. Constantly hoping for a black swan is how you'll miss 2-3 rallies and when you consider opportunity cost, being pessimistic actually makes you lose money (potential gains). @Banana3Stocks taught me: 1) That when you take a peek under the hood of the markets, you'll find data will help you anticipate rather than react. 2) When you have a conviction, fucking hammer it. Cut the noise and own it. 3) Nana also showed me a really inspiring story; his. Homeless, broke, sleeping in a car, countless days in a library just him and the pages, and surviving off just bananas. Pretty cool. Love a great pursuit of happiness kind of ending. 4) From Nana I also learned that your understanding of the broad markets will enhance when you research BEYOND just standard price action. You dont need a terminal. You can get great data nowadays for cheap. 5) You can tell it's a bull market when the bearish move fails. And you know its a bear market when the bullish moves fail. 6) Lastly, if its a rally, opt for 20 DTE+ and hold it so long as price holds the 13 DMA. Or you can build a pipelines of cons; which is a multi month swing (3-6 months), med term swing (20-50 days), and your short term swings (7-14 days). This lets you take advantage of the Delta from the short dates, sell them when it comes close to expiration, snd still catch more of the move with the next line of attack soldiers. I also studied many institutional traders and investors. In no specific order: 1) Linda Raschke 2) Jim Roppell 3) Nassim Taleb 4) Charlie Munger 5) Stanley Drunkenmiller 6) Bill Ackman 7) Ray Dalio I strictly only followed those 3 on X and turned their notifications on to help me swim in the beginning. They made me money. Then, I studied the other 7 and was able to finally swim on my own. Godspeed.

Biotech, pharma, banks, staples, health, and utilities up while every single other sector bleeds. Problem underneath the hood. This price action is the repair process it seems like. If we were risk off we why are safe haven assets taking a dip as well? Usually you'd see a divergence between say $SPY and perhaps $GLD. Just an example of a classic divergence. Kinda like the VIX vs SPY inversion we all know so well. If we put the broad market and safe haven assets into 2 categories, since both are behaving the same, one is telling the truth and the other is being kind and giving us an offer at discount before it keeps going higher. When you look at it like that, which category do you think is the one that's giving us a discount?
