@CraigDMauger Why is no one asking why a term-limited governor of a Midwest state is in a European security conference? Craig? Chad? Jonathan?
English

@ProgressingCali @andrewmichta @GrayConnolly @MunSecConf 1. The First Amendement. Governors are allowed to hold views and express them. There is no breach of the Constitution. What an idiotic comment.
2. FDI is not subject to Federal Review and RENK already has a large manufacturing presence in MI.
Do better next time.
English

1) Odd to reply with Whitmer when we're talking AOC.
2) There's a strong argument that all sub-federal officials engaging in diplomacy are breaching the Constitution.
3) She doesn't need German help for Michigan jobs, just take the Dem boot off the throat of Michigan. Jobs will happen.
4) Anything agreed too will have to be vetted through State, Commerce, etc. So this is an ask, not a deal.

Yet again, after AOC’s implosion on stage at @MunSecConf, I have to ask: How do such people become our political leaders? She is going to a major security conference, and wasn’t even briefed on the basics before she got on that plane? Where is her staff? How is this possible?

You thought AOC’s implosion on Taiwan was bad? Here’s Gretch getting caught flatfooted on Ukraine, then deferring to AOC on foreign policy! Instant disqualifier

For what it’s worth, seeing lots of interpretations of the European responses to the Rubio speech as though people swallowed it like candy. Being at #MSC26 Im hearing both Europeans and Americans appalled. His visits to Hungary and Slovakia after also wash off any sugarcoating

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) and U.S. Amb. to NATO Matthew Whitaker discuss foreign policy at the Munich Security Conference in Germany - LIVE on C-SPAN c-span.org/event/internat…

California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-New York) are among those set to speak at the Munich Security Conference this week in an effort to articulate an alternative foreign policy to President Trump’s aggressive interventionism. wapo.st/4aKTUht

I asked @MalloryMcMorrow whether Gretchen Whitmer should run for president in 2028.
Here's what she said:
English

@Justin_Higgins2 @kenklippenstein Wrong answer. She’s a presidential hopeful so she should know way more about what policies she plans on implementing if she were to become the nominee or worse yet, president. She put herself on that panel as an expert.

Asked what victory in Ukraine looks like, Gretchen Whitmer replies: "The two that I am on the panel with are much more steeped in foreign policy than a Governor is."
"I do think that Ukraine's independence, keeping their land mass and having the support of all the allies, I think, is the goal."
"Go ahead, Ambassador, do a better job."

@andrewmichta @GrayConnolly @MunSecConf The error here is an easy one, she’s not a leader. She’s a brand mascot.
The money and team behind her are the actual power. And most of them don’t care about her embarrassing herself. It won’t hurt her career.
And if, somehow, it does they’ll simply replace her.
English

@andrewmichta @MunSecConf I think that’s unfair and I expected better from you Andrew. This is a person who is gaining experience in foreign affairs. You well know this. Expecting her to be a finished product in an area that’s not her focus is not reasonable. And she had plenty of other good responses.
English

@andrewmichta @MunSecConf Did AOC and Gov. Whitmer happen to be in Munich for something else and just wander into the studio? And this is an audition for the US Presidency?
English

During a "foreign policy" panel in Munich, Gretchen Whitmer said AOC knew more about foreign policy than her. She struggled to answer about Ukraine and even looked to a Trump ambassador for an answer.
This is the @gretchenwhitmer the Michigan media has insulated for 8 years.

I fear that at #MSC2026 the US laid a trap & Europeans will walk into it. Rubio’s message was more sophisticated/implicit than Vance’s blunt/frontal (& rather silly) anti woke attack last year, but bottom line is the same: a civilizational imperial vision where might makes right
