it is of course very simple: there were campus protests under biden because people hoped they had a receptive audience in power and there are none now because they know they don’t; now, thing is, the first part turned out to be incorrect

@LikeAPhoenician @attheimax You tried to hold the entire Democratic Party hostage over one issue, carried through on your threat, and are now trying to disavow the consequences. Own it…you wanted this, you got it. In other words fuck you

@HELLLLHOOOOLE @attheimax Civil Rights movement was about principles and changing minds and hearts. Ofc all of that flows into lawmaking, etc, otherwise what’s the point? W/r/t Gaza & dirtbag left, their abandonment of any activism during Trump admin shows their lack of principles, heart and conviction.

@hcs862 @attheimax the history of the civil rights movement is a history of activism pressuring the state to act, particularly against segregation. this *was* why many activists protested, and it worked. you might be critical of that possibility now but you should at least understand what happened

@QueenMab87 So wait that gives a permission slip to the dirtbag left to only protest against Democratic administrations? Because that’s what it seems like you’re saying

A deeply divided American public has reached a new level of polarisation — for the first time in the last century a war has been fought with a majority of the public against it from start to finish. #TheTimes thetimes.com/comment/column…

@attheimax And to follow up, do you think the Dems have people’s backs by fighting for a minimum wage hike, healthcare, SNAP benefits, Medicare and Medicaid benefits, fighting ICE, fighting imperialism in starting wars, and on. Cause I do. I guess you prefer Trump you asshole

one of the results of this is the vague but broad protest movement we still do have, which, while it remains mostly unspoken, is premised on the suspicion that dems really don’t have anyone’s back on the “other side” of this

Noel Gallagher about Nirvana "I remember Nirvana had a tune called "I Hate Myself and I Want to Die," and I was like 'Well, I'm not fucking having that, I can't have people like Kurt Cobain coming over here, on smack, fucking saying that they hate themselves and they wanna die" That's fucking rubbish, kids don't need to be hearing that nonsense, seems to me that there was a guy who had everything, and was miserable about it And we had fuck-all, and I still thought that getting up in the morning was the greatest fuckin’ thing ever, ’cause you didn’t know where you’d end up at night. And we didn’t have a pot to piss in, but it was fucking great, man”

Like it or not, Shapiro is cruising to a landslide victory in the most consequential swing state and will absolutely be a huge part of the 2028 conversation. He’s more electable than Newsom and that’s more important than people realize.

BLACK VOTERS ARENT SUPERMAN… WE NEED HELP
If he does, I say he’s the favorite to be the next president. Why? Dems will UNDERESTIMATE his WWC appeal in states they need to win. They are getting DRUNK on off year elections and polls……ALREADY. They are getting ARROGANT.

🚨🇺🇸🇮🇷 The man who didn't want this war is now the one who has to end it... Vance heading into Islamabad reveals the impossible position he's in. He opposed the war. He told Trump to his face it was a bad idea. He cautioned against striking the Houthis in leaked Signal chats. He kept quiet during the early weeks, staying as far from the "debacle" as possible. Then Trump handed him the negotiating table. A close friend says Vance described feeling like he was "walking on eggshells" around Trump because of his antiwar views. Across the table sits Araghchi, who literally wrote a book called "Negotiations: The Power of Diplomacy" vowing Iran would never surrender its nuclear capacity. And Ghalibaf, the parliament speaker who mocked America's "no-strategy war" when the F-15 was shot down. A former Trump official put the stakes bluntly: Vance will have his fingerprints all over the fallout if the U.S. ends up on the losing side of a bad deal. But here's the thing nobody is saying out loud. Vance's opposition to the war is exactly what makes him credible to Iran. Tehran requested him. They trust that the man who tried to prevent the bombing is more likely to negotiate honestly than the people who championed it. If he walks out of Islamabad with a deal, it's the most significant diplomatic achievement by a Vice President in modern history. If he doesn't, the war he never wanted becomes the war he couldn't end. Source: WSJ

Student activists are tactical. They thought they could influence the Biden Administration because he was a Democrat and they were his own voters. That failed. I think many concluded you had to change the party first and energy has been channeled into defeating pro Israel Dems.
Sam Stein@samstein

Biden's presidency was tormented by campus protests over Israel's war in Gaza and his reluctance to push back on it. They shadowed him at events Those protests have been virtually nonexistent with Trump amid the war in Iran. @Lauren_V_Egan looks into why thebulwark.com/p/the-campus-p…

@nkulw In every case where protests have been limited on campuses, some alternative has been set up so there are ways to protest in compliance with 1A concerns. So while it’s more dangerous, it’s not like there aren’t ample ways that aren’t dangerous. This whole thing is disingenuous

@TCLangWrites @AaronRegunberg I love how "they got a new candidate" overshadows Biden lying to us all about being a one term transition president and dropping out after it was too late to have a primary. A candidate was given to us, we didn't pick Harris

Uncommitted argued the Biden/Harris position on Gaza was alienating key constituencies and could lose Dems the election. They were trying to use the primary process to push for change so Dems could win. They were proven 100% right. You were proven 100% wrong. Respectfully, STFU.
tré easton@treeaston

Respectfully, this sort of undercuts the whole stated purpose of the Uncommitted effort. If you recognize that your movement only appreciably advances under one party, you expend your energy getting that party into power and pushing it, not undermining it in the eyes of voters.
