Sorry but there is no real defense of Fauci.
I was someone who gave him a leeway early on, but it has been clear for years that he repeatedly and intentionally misled the public at a time where maintaining the credibility of health officials was critical.

What feels “off” to me has been the lack of popular revolt against those who violated our human rights for ~2 years. Worse, Fauci’s diary is but the latest evidence there was no scientific rationale for locking down, masking up, socially distancing, restricting travel, limiting gatherings, shutting schools, vaccinating, boosting, double masking, double boosting, & all the rest of it. They did it because they could. Billions of people suffered & millions died. And to this day Fauci is still feted in “elite” circles like a demigod. When the people become less vigilant defending their rights, tyrants grow increasingly bold. It’s time for the pendelum to start swinging the other direction.
