@flasportsbuzz Heat are not contenders, but they do have 4 former all stars, a 6th man of the year caliber guy, a top role player in Pelle, a top rebounding young big in Ware, a few more solid role players. Yet they were worst than any team not tanking. And the coach does not even get a glance?

The Heat could reasonably say that in the case of many of these 10 teams, being passed was unavoidable because of years of tanking (Detroit, couple others). The flip side is that Boston has held off all the tankers. But Boston has 2 high lottery pick/top-15 NBA players.

@Z0rcey @HeatvsHaters BS, a corpse would have won with Bron, Bam, Wade. Jimmy got them to the finals with Gabe Vincent and Strus hitting 3s with guys in their faces, shots they never will hit again, they got hot. Players carried Spo, he is a half decent coach, bad at game adjustments and nothing more.

@flasportsbuzz Your article is the same old on Spo. No one denies what he has done. Every coach grows stale in one place, even the greats. Spo should move upstairs like Brad Stephens did, or go to a new team, be great for him. Team was worse than any non tanking team in the NBA, change coaches.

Regrettably, the Heat - loyal to a fault - was late in recognizing what was clear a year ago: This core isn't good enough. This incarnation of the Heat felt like a sitcom that stayed on the air two years too long, relying on stale lines (“we have enough!”) and characters who overstayed their welcome.

@IraHeatBeat Overwhelming odds are Heat get another solid role player. Nothing has changed. Either Heat get super lucky and get a Joker with a late pick like Nuggets did or they change course, get 3-4-5 high picks over a few years, and one is a superstar. No use pretending other ways exist.

@flasportsbuzz 1. Bucks are not trading Giannis to Heat so lets move on 2. A superstar requires luck, Giannis and Joker and others were later picks SGA and Brunson were trades no body thought would turn out that well Heat need a bit of luck but a Giannis trade is not happening.

3 things Heat would hope for this offseason: 1). Phoenix loses Friday play-in, moving Heat up to 12th in draft. 2) Heat seizes on 4.8 or 7.1 percent odds to land top 4 pick in May 10 lottery. 3). No asset/draft-rich contender loses in playoffs and decides to outbid Heat for Giannis.

@flasportsbuzz We already know how this works. Heat play just well enough now to get mediocre pick. They draft well, another really good role player. They are tied in reports to Giannis and another star or 2. They get none, sign some veteran solid player. Next year fighting for play off spot.

So here's your choice, Heat Nation (and none of us have any say in the matter): Heat loses in play-in and will pick 12th or 13th (very very small chance of 14th), with 7.1% or 4.8% chance, respectively, to land top 4 pick... Heat advances to playoffs, picks 16th or 17th with 0 percent chance of higher pick, but gives you something to watch on television and some entertainment for at least several more nights.

@flasportsbuzz Giannis and Joker were lower draft picks. Brunson, SGA trades turned out with them being better than anyone thought. Having a high pick is not a guarantee of anything. Maybe having 3-4-5-6 high picks sure, the odds get better. But 1 higher pick is still a crap shoot.

@IraHeatBeat Not a bad thing. FanDuel was a mess. You start the game maybe an hour late and don't know the score, it pops to live and ruins it by showing you the live instead of resuming where you left off. Then if you miss the window, you wait hours to watch the game on replay. Good riddance

In all seriousness, case could be made that losing next 2 (Wizards, Hawks) is in best longterm interests of Heat. Miami's lottery odds of top 4 pick rise from 2.4% to 9.4% if Heat loses next 2 and lose in play-in AND Portland beats Clippers and Kings at home AND Clippers beat Warriors Sunday AND Warriors make the playoffs.

@flasportsbuzz Big issue is D. Wade made the franchise looked great. He played crazy ball and won the 1st title, he got his buddies Bron/Bosh to come a board, he sold Jimmy on the culture. Riley drafted Wade, a great move. But all other the success was Wade's influence, not Arison/Riley/Spo.
