Is this the most iconic view in Texas? One of my own photos, taken in November, 2009. Have you ever stood at this spot, looked out on this vista, and, like me, contemplated how vast Texas is and felt inconsequential in comparison?

Y'all, I wanted to apologize for not posting yesterday. I woke up fully intending to post but then ---- in the Terlingua way ---- I got invited to a wedding by complete strangers, Abbi and Marco. Naturally, I brought my camera. I asked the newlyweds if it would be okay if I shared a photo or two with y'all and they were okay with that. I have to say that, having shot dozens of weddings myself, Abbi was one of the most beautiful, radiant brides I have ever seen, and Marco was a handsome young man. Also, in the Traces of Texas way, I found myself crying at this wedding of two young people who, before yesterday, were unknown to me. I always do. It was 96 degrees and there I was with tears streaming down my face, like a silly old fool. I hope y'all join me in wishing the newlyweds a long, happy life together. Congratulations to Abbi and Marco!

@auren Been using the app checkin for a few years now…it’s a simple & easy process for reservations & chk in/out

checked into a Hampton Inn and I saw the future. it was a singularly pleasurable experience. you check in via the Hilton app and it allows you to select the room of the hotel. just like selecting a seat in a plane, the app gives you a layout of the rooms (floor by floor) and let’s you pick. there were two rooms left on the highest floor and i picked the one i thought was best. then the app creates a mobile key for you. when i got to the hotel (got there late because my flight was delayed 3 hours), i just went straight to the room. i walked straight passed the from desk without even stopping. got to the room and the mobile key actually worked as advertised. i never even interacted with anyone on the hotel staff (which, for someone like me, is preferred) this was awesome. no time checking in. no time waiting in a line. no dealing with the bellman that it waiting anxiously for their $20 tip. just got to go straight to my room (which was wonderful) and go to bed (as I mention, it was late). why can’t every hotel do this?

My wife's a corporate attorney, and she’s taking next week off. Yesterday she turned on her out-of-office reply, and won't have to think about work at all until July 28th. I can’t even begin to imagine what that feels like.
