As a neurodivergent adult, success looks different.
Sometimes success is: • answering the email
• making the appointment
• eating before 3 PM
• remembering why you walked into the room
• leaving the house with everything you need
Tiny victories count when your brain makes everything a side quest.

I was trying to find a small shrine in Kyoto. Not a famous one, just one my friend recommended. The map on my phone kept glitching because of the narrow streets.
A lady walking by saw me staring at my phone and spinning around like an idiot.
She stopped and asked if I needed help, in english. I showed her the name of the shrine.
She said "oh, that one is tricky. Google never gets it right." Then she said "I'll take you."
I told her she didn't have to do that. She waved it off, saying she was just walking anyway.
We walked for maybe ten minutes. She told me about the shrine on the way. Why it was built, who it was for, the festivals they have there. Things I would never have learned from a tourist site.
When we got there she bowed slightly toward the shrine entrance, then smiled at me and left.
Didn't leave her name. Didn't give me a chance to properly thank her.
Spent an hour at that shrine. Might have been my favorite thing I did in Kyoto. I almost missed it because of a bad GPS signal.
