He was captured three days after the outbreak of the 1956 war: “During captivity, Zionist soldiers gouged out the eyes of some prisoners to terrorize us, and they told us: ‘Whoever does not obey orders, we will cut off his head in the camp.’ They also pulled out soldiers’ fingernails in a savage way.
