🚨 BREAKING: Sen. Mike Lee just RIPPED Republican Rep. Maria E. Salazar's AMNESTY bill called the "DIGNIDAD Act" "Amnesty is still AMNESTY, even if you call it dignity, and even if you make people pay a fine!" "So look, if you want to push amnesty, go right ahead. I strongly disagree with that. But don't tell us that it's NOT amnesty, because that's EXACTLY what it is." 🔥 He said it perfectly. NEVER AMNESTY, period! We did NOT vote for that.

“Amnesty,” in the immigration context, refers to any law or policy that gives illegal immigrants the right to remain in the U.S.—in spite of, and in many ways because of, their illegal status. That’s exactly what the Dignity Act would do. It would reward millions who entered or overstayed illegally (pre-2021) with a renewable seven-year legal status, full work authorization, and protection from deportation. That’s a massive benefit unavailable to the millions who follow the legal immigration process—solely because these individuals broke the law. Fines, background checks, and “no federal benefits” don’t change the core fact: the Dignity Act would reward violations of U.S. immigration law and let illegal immigrants stay and work legally—giving them an advantage over law-abiding visa applicants precisely because they broke the rules. That’s textbook amnesty, rebranded as “dignity.” We didn’t vote for this. We voted for secure borders and mass deportations after Biden’s border invasion and the largest human-trafficking operation in U.S. history. There are compelling reasons why many of us oppose amnesty: we shouldn’t reward lawbreaking with legal status. And we definitely shouldn’t pretend this isn’t amnesty—because that’s exactly what it is.

The DIGNITY Act is not amnesty — it’s a legal work status that benefits all of us.

Maria Salazar insists the DIGNIDAD Act is not amnesty, so much so that she’s screaming at people on X to “READ. THE. BILL. BEFORE. YOU. OPEN. YOUR. MOUTH.” So I read the bill. It’s actually worse than just amnesty ⬇️ thefederalist.com/2026/04/09/her…

@_UserEx_ @DataRepublican @RepMariaSalazar All Democrats would likely vote for it. Some Republicans likely would vote for it as well, but it’s not clear exactly how many (or who). We have to assume it might possibly pass if it came up for a vote.

@XRPall_the_cash This is a great example. How would your wife feel if this passed into law, giving others a benefit she never had access to—simply because she obeyed the law and they didn’t?

@BasedMikeLee My wife from Germany went through the legal immigration process for her green card after we were married. We had to sign documents specifically stating we had no rights to any social benefits. We also had to be sponsored by my parents in case of any financial liabilities. WYKYK.

@jessebirder Amnesty is certainly not compassionate to those who have entered the country legally or are currently trying to do so.

@BasedMikeLee Mike points out something important - amnesty in any form for illegals hurts those who are trying to come to America legally. And, it hurts Americans too since we can't choose whom we let in - what skills, abilities, and culture they bring to bear for America.

@DeztroReal @DataRepublican Yeah, we were promised back then that this would be the end of illegal immigration. How did that work out for us? Not well. It encouraged more illegal immigration.

@USLatAmEnvoy In no way does it cease to be honesty simply because it imposes some consequence. So don’t play the textualists card here; you will lose.

Senator, as a textualist, you know precision matters. 👉🏼Amnesty means forgiveness without consequence. But a framework that imposes fines, vetting, and long-term compliance is the opposite, it enforces accountability. So let’s move beyond labels and confront outcomes: Do we deport the grandmother of 30 years with no criminal history? Do we deport the father of U.S. service members? Do we detain the spouse of a soldier who followed the legal process? Do we remove DACA recipients who were brought here as children? If the answer to all of these is “yes,” then this is not about defining amnesty, it is about endorsing maximum penalty in every case, regardless of context. We did not vote for this. That is not how serious legal systems function. If every solution is called amnesty, then the goal isn’t reform, it’s paralysis.

@BasedMikeLee . @RepMariaSalazar if you're name-dropping Mike Lee to imply he supports you, then please explain why he's making videos against the Dignity Act. It's getting increasingly hard to not to read knowing intellectual fraud into that.
