@basikthings Thanks! Current plan is to monetize it, yes. Not against having a free license for non-commercial use though.

@latentspacepod @ebarcuzzi An obvious one to me is the perception stack where the industry is already very accustomed to making long term bets on silicon enabling a use case. The long term bets are the same, but the solution space broadens to not just thinking about sensor silicon but also compute silicon.

Unitree humanoids are finally getting to work. 🤖 Unitree just deployed their G1 robots at their own factory. Powered by the UnifoLM-X1-0 embodied model, these bots are actually handling manufacturing tasks on the assembly line. It is pretty wild to watch robots literally building their own kind.

@HaoruXue @breadli428 Agreed, organizers at this workshop regularly let speakers go over 5-15m. This also made it hard to coordinate time across workshops. Definitely something they need to pay attention to.

It was absolutely disgraceful seeing the venue people just rudely cut the mic. Even when @breadli428 repeatedly beg for just 3 more minutes and he will be done, the person simply repeated robotically: you should have been done. I was clearing rooms one by one. It’s the event organizer’s fault. Absolutely no respect at all.

The toughest moment in a PhD: >spend a year building smth you’re proud of >travel across world with advisors’ support to share it >when your moment finally comes >your mic gets cut because the previous schedule ran late Heartbroken, but thanks to whom stayed for me @NeurIPSConf

@aj_hugs Do what works for you and the project, but I never see this kind of modeling after several years on the job. This is a way to do top down modeling, but I think you’ll find that it’s brittle and might not scale well when faced with big architecture changes.

This is how I've been modeling for 6 years (Solidworks / Onshape) 1) Only sketches and planes (variables at the very start) 2) All the features (extrudes, revolves, fillets, etc) but always only 1 of each part (to keep assembly BoM correct) 3) Full assembly What say the MechE's on here?

🚀 We’ll be hosting a Tutorial on "3D Human Motion Generation and Simulation" at ICCV 2025 in Honolulu, Hawaii! 🌺 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🧗🏊🚴🕺🤖 📅 Date: October 19, 2025 ⏰ Time: 9:00–16:00 (HST) This tutorial brings together leading researchers to cover the foundations and latest advances in motion and interaction modeling. Topics include: 1️⃣ Human motion generation basics 2️⃣ Kinematic- and physics-based motion models 3️⃣ Controllability of motion generation 4️⃣ Human-object/scene interactions 5️⃣ Co-speech gesture synthesis 👩‍🏫 🎤 Speakers & Organizers include experts from Meta, Nvidia, ETH, MPI, Northeastern University, University of Pennsylvania, MIT, and more. Particularly, we will be honored to have Libin Liu, Zhengyi (Zen) Luo, Xianghui Xie, Korrawe Karunratanakul as our speakers. Whether you’re a PhD student, researcher, or industry practitioner, we belive this tutorial will provide deep technical insights, practical methods, and exciting open problems to explore in the years ahead. 🔗 More details & resources: 3dmogen.github.io #ICCV2026 #3DHumanMotion #GenerativeAI #Simulation #robotics #ComputerVision #DeepLearning #ICCV #AI #Motion #Animation

@cixliv @PTrubey This whole conversation is confusing. Most American robot companies are developing their own actuators. Many times those actuators have parts that are sourced in China or even assembled in China but that is not the same thing as a Chinese actuator.

Most Americans don't get how fast Chinese robots are improving and scaling. I can buy this robot and get it to my door in 2-3 weeks. Meanwhile you can't buy a single American humanoid robot (yet).

@TheHumanoidHub The black potting compound is not insulating, it’s actually the opposite, thermally conductive for heat dissipation. It’s electrically insulating though.

@andrewmccalip If this was ferromagnetic the behavior would be totally different. It would immediately snap to the lowest energy state that increases flux density through the magnetic circuit. You would see the sample pinned to the floor instead of float up.

I don't want to succumb to the echo chamber just yet, it seems weird, but could we explain this another way? Is there a lead compound that exhibits ferromagnetic behavior? I cracked open the 3rd tube but didn't see any results. The log picture posted earlier was from that experiment. The materials seem poorly reacted, that's for sure. It will be interesting to do the 20hr ones later today.
