If your bank records aren't publicized, why should your crypto be? The lack of privacy on-chain is one of the major reasons why commercial adoption is slow. You deserve the freedom to spend your money without showing everyone which money you spend or where you spend it. In the early days of the internet, institutions wouldn't do business on it because of the lack of privacy. Businesses and financial regulators needed privacy to trust the internet. The solution provided by engineers was ENCRYPTION That's when the world went from HTTP to HTTPS, primarily to increase online security by encrypting data transmitted between a user's browser and a website, preventing eavesdropping. Privacy was necessary for the internet to scale! Just as the internet had a lot of limitations in its early days, crypto started with 3 major problems: 1) legitimacy, 2) scale & programmability, and 3) privacy. Bitcoin solved the legitimacy and scale problems by becoming a trillion-dollar asset and proving it could work. Ethereum & Solana made crypto programmable with their extensive modular architecture. The only problem that remained was privacy. And could only be achieved by combining the privacy of cash with the global reach of crypto through the global internet.
