I thought he was great in Tron Ares and if this thing flops it won’t be because of him. His casting didn’t help, but the promotional clips with him in it haven’t looked bad. If it leans too far into mocking the 80s and celebrating wokism, versus mocking wokism and celebrating the 80s, it’ll fail. Also they’ll need to explain why Prince Adam doesn’t get any bigger or more mature, confident, etc when he transforms into He Man, it has a chance tho- I’m withholding judgement. I’ve heard it compared to Flash Gordon and that’s a classic. But also Love and Thunder and that’s a train wreck

If you’re hesitant about Masters of the Universe because of Jared Leto, consider this: 1.) Reports say he didn’t even like doing it and he hated the final cut of the film. 2.) They’ve got him sidelined with his head the corner for the premiere and entire press tour. No one even mentions his name. 3.) He’s completely unrecognizable in the role. 4.) He’s disappeared into Skeletor so much, the adulation is going to the character, not him. 5.) If it succeeds, the story will be that it worked in spite of him. Seeing the movie doesn’t support Jared Leto. It makes you a willing participant in his humiliation ritual. 💀 🫵😂

I’m pleased to report that Masters of the Universe is a wonderful movie. And best of all is ISN’T Woke! They’ve race swapped Man at Arms but who cares? It works just fine and Idris Elba does a fine job. Skeletor obviously steals the show. The characters look just like the toys and it’s stayed faithful to the 1980s cartoon source material. Thankfully it’s nothing like the Netflix woke abomination. So if you grew up in that era and watched the cartoon you’ll be pleasantly pleased. 10/10
