@bradwestfall I agree w/ this 100%. And just like plastic toys every company will need to decide their tolerance level for cheap crap. Some things will be thin plastic, some will be thick plastic, some will be pleather, but fewer and fewer will be genuinely hand crafted. And maybe thats okay?

@dested What plastics did to manufacturing, LLMs are doing to software engineering. It's fast, it's cheap, it's more bridle, but a machine can make it cheap so we don't care about quality anymore. I call it plastic software

Pretty much my feelings on the state of things, and I am just as conflicted.

Gave GPT 5.4 in Vesence for Excel the decompiled Pokemon Red and it made me a playable demo of the overworld. Made with 100% Excel formulas.

I hate to admit it but I am officially on the opus 4.6 has degraded bandwagon. I hope its related to reasoning levels and setting it to high is enough of a fix. I hope its a harness bug.

@sirjoeldean Me neither, never. I haven't had a hardcoded hallucinated id with an opus model in like 5 months. It scared the hell out of me. I am kind of suspecting it to be related to medium reasoning vs high.

Just had opus 4.6 hallucinate a name and id from nothing. Haven't had that fear in a while.

@dested I wanted loaderData (React Router Framework), at first Cursor hallucinated Remix (forgivable), then Next, then Tanstack. If I let it keep going what are the changes of it guessing jQuery
