This is not true whatsoever. When I was in 7th grade my teacher intentionally refused to sign off on a reccomendation to have me skip a grade. This was directly opposed to my councillor, and my other teachers. Her reasoning was because I had a "98" in her class and not a "100." The actual reason was because I was helping everyone around me on in class assignments so it made her job easier. After this happened I stopped helping the other students around me, and IT JUST SO HAPPENED, that seating was changed the very next week and I was placed next to a loud screaming child with severe down syndrome. She refused to move me because "I was so good with my fellow students" until my MOTHER had to go to the principal and demand that I be moved using the excuse that "it wasn't fair I was the only one getting experience around less fortunate kids."
