There's just no way the actual audience rating is 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. Metacritic has the movie at a 5.3/10 user score, Letterboxd has it at 4.3 and IMDB has it at 8.3/10. Rotten Tomatoes is removing negative reviews at the behest of the studio.

While globally there are 442k user reviews on Steam for Palworld in total, in Japan alone there are only 4231 user reviews in total meaning Japanese players make up less than 1% of total Palworld players on Steam, and only 125 new reviews from Japanese users have been added since the 1.0 release last week, an absolute abysmally miniscule amount. Palworld has had absolutely no impact in Japan, the country where it originated. Instead it is primarily only played by users in English speaking countries like the US, UK and Australia, followed by Chinese players as the 2nd biggest language breakdown. Additionally while it has 442k user reviews in total, only 16k user reviews have been added since the 1.0 release last week, meaning just barely even 3.6% of the current Palworld players for the 1.0 release are even brand new players who picked it up with the 1.0 full release and that most people currently playing are in fact only just those who picked it up from Early Access years ago and are only just checking back in now. The original Early Access version dropped off significantly only 1 month after launch as evidenced by the charts, and likewise the same is expected here after the 1.0 launch "hype" has worn off. Palworld has flopped in Japan and it cannot even gain any meaningful new players either in Japan or globally, it has no staying power at all and its total CCU's is barely even 50% of its global launch Early Access peak CCU.

Firstly, the professional reviewers have almost completely been put out of a job by @Nerdrotics, @TheCriticalDri2 and the Friday Night Tights crew, who have their finger on the pulse of what regular folks like. They need this to be a success. Secondly, the people who rushed out to see the Odyssey are Nolan fans, many of whom will only ever say positive things about it. Wait till the week two numbers to see the drop off. Btw, I am not saying that the movie isn’t great, just that these numbers are not an accurate reflection of whether it is or not.
