@KylosWeb3 I caught a shiny Paras in ilex forest on my first playthrough, I could tell something about it was odd but I kept it. Didn't find out it was a shiny until many years later. Poor guy is forever stuck in my Gold version of the Gameboy

The year is 2002. Pokémon Silver has been out internationally for a year for everyone to enjoy. You boot it up on your GameBoy Colour. Today is the day you catch Lugia. But wait, something is different, why is he red? Must be a glitch in the game, Lugia is meant to be Blue. You dont want your game to corrupt and lose the data. You turn the GameBoy off without saving, so you can go back to Lugia and try again. Loe and behold, he's now blue. You're happy, you catch him with a Master Ball, you're not taking any chances, he's level 70, a beast in the late game. Years later, you learn of a thing called 'shinies' in the Pokéverse. You recall your interaction with a red Lugia and go to check what colour it is. It's red. Your heart sinks, you let it go, just because you thought it was 'a glitch'. Never to be caught on Pokémon Silver by yourself again.

@MapexDrummer26 Facts, I always blamed it on the heavy alcohol consumption but had White Castle sober on Fremont at 3am, still got the Taco Bell treatment in the porcelain throne

@Hikaru_Chansey @ManaByte This game was so awesome, I remember convincing my mom to rent it for me from Blockbuster when I was 13. I simply kept re-renting it since I couldn't buy it. Played the living hell out of it and my mom never realized how bad it was for us, she only saw the cute squirrel lol

@ManaByte Still, Rare gave us one last masterpiece. A final fuck you to the rating systems. Conker's Bad Fur Day released in March 2001, just 6 months before the debut of the Gamecube. Complete with piss, shit, blood, violence, drug use, and even some titties. End of an era.

By the end of the N64 era, Rare was missing deadlines and their output was slowing to a crawl while development costs skyrocketed. When Rare co-founders Tim and Chris Stamper put their remaining stake up for sale, they triggered a bidding war hoping Nintendo would overpay out of sentimentality.  Hiroshi Yamauchi looked at the math and refused to bite. Rare only accounted for a tiny fraction of Nintendo’s revenue at the time, and critical talent was already leaving the studio to form independent teams. Crucially, Nintendo owned the rights to Donkey Kong and Star Fox, meaning Microsoft was paying an inflated 375 million dollars for a logo and a handful of niche intellectual properties.  Passing on Rare wasn't a mistake; it was letting a competitor spend a fortune on a studio that had already peaked, freeing up resources for Nintendo to build their own internal teams and weather the GameCube era.
✨Soft Prelude✨@TrivialLight

I will always stand by the notion that them not purchasing Rare was one of their biggest mistakes.

@DeeZe @thechosenberg The dad is right though, if the kid went outside for a bit. The 80-87 degree house wouldn't feel so bad. I keep my thermostat at 82 in the summer and keep the house fan circulating air.

in the original Base Set, Charizard was no rarer than a Magneton every holo in the set had the exact same odds: roughly 1 in 3 packs gave you a holo and there were 16 of them, so any specific one landed around 1 in 48 packs Charizard and Magneton were equally hard to pull the only thing that made Charizard the king was us modern chase cards are a different world the rarest pulls today can sit past 1 in 400 packs, sometimes far worse but back then, rarity was random

@Yoc_Star My house is from the 1940s and based on public records, the original owners paid $8000 for it. They sold it to us for $240k in 2016. It's a starter home for sure but it's on a lot of land, big enough to build a million $ home on for 1/3 the cost

The “starter homes for $25k” makes me laugh. I looked up the price of what my parents paid for their house in 1986. $117,500. The average interest rate was around 13%. It was a small 3 bedroom 1 bathroom 1008 square foot home. My room was the smallest and my brothers shared a room. Built in 1941. That was a starter home. It didn’t have a big kitchen or a spacious bathroom or walk in closets. One bathroom for five people. We didn’t have TVs in our rooms either. We didn’t eat out all the time. Food delivery didn’t exist. And it was NOT in the best part of town; you didn’t leave anything outside you didn’t want stolen. Saw it on Zillow, still has the original basement wall panels and flooring 😂

Boomers were “mean drunks” who’d come home hammered and beat their family Gen Xers were “fun drunks” who maybe had some beers on the couch every day and it totally wasn’t alcoholism but it kinda was Gen Z grew up with them as parents and grandparents so of course they don’t drink.
S.🎧@1ssve

Serious Question: The alcohol industry has lost $830 billion in the last 4 years, because Gen Z is not drinking. Why do you think they aren’t drinking?

@ryansatin That's how it was growing up in SoCal, I went to 2 high schools cuz we moved, I went from a school being so diverse, everyone was represented, to a high school where I was the token Mexican kid. Only 2 cities over but dang was it a culture shock.

Can someone explain to me why people do cosmetic yard work for 4+ hours every weekend? Wait, so the 10 seconds you see it when you leave/enter your home makes it all worth it? I just can’t think of a worse way to spend my time.

If Pizza Hut can return, then we can resurrect Blockbuster. And we should. While Netflix made things more “convenient” we lost something irreplaceable: The ritual of going to a place with your family or friends to choose a story together. That experience was special.

@Llghtnlng_Blade Dual type Pokemon didn't have resistances but instead more weaknesses. Using poison or ground attacks on Venusaur wasn't neutral, it was super effective. Same with electric attacks on Zapdos. Game couldn't neutralize dual typings effectiveness

@_toxicblonde @Seaabastian AOC is still too new for the DNC, they don't trust her. It's always long time members that get picked. Or the relative of someone in power, like Newsom.

Mhm. I can tell you as someone who’s lived in Colorado for 12 years and had all the Californians move in, I am very upset about some of the Newsom logic that is being brought over here. I don’t know if AOC will be their pick. I think the DNC doesn’t want her for whatever reason.

@_toxicblonde @Seaabastian If Newsom runs, DNC is done. He's ruined California so much and the scary part is other states and cities want to emulate California. If the left wants a chance to win the next election, it's AOC. Need some younger blood higher up in the ranks

Most people who joined the hobby recently don’t like or know 800+ of the 1025 Pokémon we have now 😂 Some of y’all think Jangmo-o is fake and Type: Null is a medical condition. We’ll hit Gen 20 and people will still say: “No Charizard? Set sucks.”
TheCollectorGroup@collectdotrip

We currently have around 1,000 Pokemon and the Pokemon Company says they plan to grow the universe to 10,000 A tenth of the way there from the company that's generated +$200 BILLION in revenue and dudes on here are calling for the generational top. Good luck remaining sidelined forever. Cardboard supercycle 100 years dynasty.
