Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope
Allow us to reintroduce ourselves… The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope is @NASA’s next space observatory, set to launch as early as fall 2026. Named after NASA’s first chief astronomer, #NASARoman will have a field of view at least 100 times larger than @NASAHubble. This field of view will help us better understand many cosmic mysteries including dark matter and dark energy. It will revolutionize our understanding of the universe by revealing countless cosmic objects, from stars and planets to galaxies and black holes. The telescope will be heading a million miles away to Lagrange point 2 along with fellow telescope, @NASAWebb. Check out nasa.gov/roman to stay up to date on the mission!

How do you make a space telescope? A goal: scientific observations like we’ve never seen. A team of experts to create precise instrumentation. A facility so clean it filters out particles smaller than a human hair. That’s how @NASARoman was built.

Not too hot, not too cold, but just right! No, this isn't only the plot of your favorite childhood story but also a simplified analogy to explain how a planet's distance from its star can help make it habitable. 🪐 ☀️ ^ too hot ☀️ 🪐 ^ too cold 🪐 ☀️ ^ Just right and possibly habitable! The Fellowship of the…Telescopes! Actor John Rhys-Davies takes us on a journey highlighting the great telescopes from the past, present, and future of space exploration. As we continue to celebrate the final integration of @NASA’s Roman Space Telescope, we look at some of the greats: @NASAHubble, celebrating 35 plus years of exploration, @NASAWebb coming up on 4 years of science, and the future Habitable Worlds Observatory!

Exoplanets, worlds beyond our solar system, are often invisible even to powerful telescopes due to the bright glare of their host stars. Check out the link below to learn more about how @NASAWebb and #NASARoman will use different methods to help uncover and examine elusive exoplanets. Stay tuned for the final video about teamwork. go.nasa.gov/4aiyZ5e

A million miles from Earth, LaGrange point 2 enables uninterrupted, consistent viewing of the universe. @NASAWebb’s ability to peer deep into the universe, studying galaxy formation across all stages, and #NASARoman’s ability to capture large swaths of the universe in one image make them the perfect pair for astronomers to explore nearly every stage of cosmic history. Learn more about how they will survey the universe: go.nasa.gov/49MX1Eb Make sure to stay tuned for the next video about exoplanets.

What makes @NASAWebb and #NASARoman so different is what makes them the perfect team to help us reach a common goal: a better understanding of the universe and everything in it. Webb's focused field of view enables more concentrated observations deep into the universe, while Roman will conduct larger, faster, and shallower surveys of the cosmos. Learn more about their differences: go.nasa.gov/49MX1Eb Make sure to stay tuned for the next video about how the telescopes will survey the universe.

Happy 7th launch anniversary to #ICESat2! Since 2018, this @NASAEarth satellite has fired more than 2 trillion laser shots to provide height measurements of Earth’s ice, oceans, trees, and more. Join the mission’s mascot, Tourist Pho, as he measures tree height in the Black Forest. This animation was created by students at the Savannah College of Art & Design.
