Republicans are lying to the American people when they say the SAVE Act is a voter ID law—it’s a proof-of-citizenship requirement that would make voting harder, if not impossible, for a lot of people. Passports are expensive, documents don’t always match, and the process can be a mess (been there). We should be making voting easier, not adding more hurdles. Democrats can own this by proposing their own bill that accepts a range of IDs, and includes automatic voter registration and Election Day as a national holiday for starters.

For those who are wondering, the SAVE America Act requires every state to run their voter rolls through the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements system, which identifies noncitizens and dead people so they can be removed from the voter rolls. That’s why it doesn’t require anyone to re-register if they’re already registered.

I just went through TSA.
Had to show my Government ID.
Turns out — 90% of America have flown commercial and had to do the same thing. That’s +300 million people.
If we can do it to fly we can do it to vote.
Both must require absolute security.
