I'm hearing there's no comedian at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner this year, officially to “tone things down.” Critics are already saying it’s to avoid roasting the president.

Major discussions in Downing Street over whether to blame Lisa Nandy or David Lammy for the upcoming wipe out in the local elections. Whoever the prime minister chooses, he is expected to take full personal responsibility... by sacking them.

In tomorrow’s Mail on Sunday: * Angela Rayner tells MPs “it’s now or never” to oust Starmer * Burnham allies say they are now ready to press the button on 8 May * Streeting allies say the local elections will prove the need for a new leader who can unite the party

@PolitlcsUK We all want him gone and sooner rather than later but whats she saying, if they don't take him down now he's suddenly going to pull the rabbit out of the hat and develop competence and integrity? Now or never is a rallying cry but a silly one.

@venturepictures The US UK relationship should be taken out back and double-tapped anyway. But as a Brit, i don't give the tiniest shit about the Falklands.

For all those Americans out there who don’t understand. Any change of stance from the US on the Falklands in terms of UK sovereignty would alienate quite literally most of the UK against you. The US - UK relationship would be for all intents and purposes. Dead.

Britain needs to revise its nuclear doctrine immediately to state that any attack on a British Overseas Territories constitutes a direct attack on Britain, which will be met with nuclear force. Do what France has done with their overseas territories, integrate them.

The #labour lunatic fringe are always an embarrassment to themselves. Demand integrity from their party and you're a "bot". Same as they attack the media for reporting the conduct of "Dear Leader". Shameful little people. Little Jeeves there even had the nerve to block.

@BethRigby @joshglancy Arrogant prick. We demand integrity from politicians, its not negotiable. As he damned well knew when we were going through the BS with Johnson. What a hypocrite.

@manniefabian Lots of investigations as to conduct in Lebanon, far less for the genocide in Gaza. The IDF should be proscribed globally.

The IDF says it is investigating after footage published by Lebanese media showed military excavators damaging solar panels in the Christian village of Debel in southern Lebanon. "The actions seen in the video do not align with the values of the IDF and the conduct expected of its soldiers," the military says in response to a query by The Times of Israel. The IDF says the incident is under investigation, and according to the findings, actions will be taken against the troops involved. According to Lebanese media, damage was also caused to water infrastructure in Debel, along with homes, roads, and olive trees.

Via @joshglancy: Starmer acknowledges the Mandelson appointment was a mistake that needs looking at, but he is also deeply frustrated by Westminster’s obsession with it. He views a political-media class that only wants to talk about vetting forms and not about the Strait of Hormuz as fundamentally unserious. “I understand why there are questions,” he says. “I’ve answered I don’t know how many of them. But at the same time, I’ve got a huge amount of work to do on the war on two fronts.”
