@its_hipolita The movies do a horrible job of describinh this. Theres also the causal chain which leads to sword fightinh which has been more or less entirely ignored. Villeneuve = hack

@SicilianExile @its_hipolita They also ruined the third movie in advance by misunderstanding Paul’s (flawed) omniscience and turning it into just a power grab. In the bold he’s trapped because he feels like he has no choice but to do horrible things because he thinks it’s the only way to save humanity

@dokrauss @AustinWyckes Using a lot of parenthetical tools like that typically just means you’re lazy about structuring sentences–an em dash is just a way to avoid writing sentences that flow well

@AustinWyckes I use em and en and colon semi to full and ellipses and parentheses and asterisks and asides and notes and run-ons and paragraph-long sentences because I can write at a higher level than "Run Spot run," which is apparently the test for AI.

@Dons_Lawn_Salon The thing is X. We thought it was Y. A pitch to grab your attention. Another one, building unnecessary tension. Short sentence. Another short sentence. The X is not just X. It’s some unrelated thing. Not because Y, but because Z are doing stuff. Dramatic sentence in the end

it low key sucks how every post on any topic from science to art to culture to war is basically written like this now
Gandalv@Microinteracti1

The F-35 was supposed to be unkillable. That was the whole point. Lockheed Martin spent thirty years and four hundred billion dollars, the most expensive weapons programme in human history, building an aircraft that the enemy simply could not see. Not on radar. Not on infrared. Not on anything. The F-35 was not just a fighter jet. It was a theological statement. America’s way of saying: we have moved beyond the reach of your missiles, your sensors, and your prayers. Iran apparently didn’t get the memo. Somewhere over Iranian airspace on March 19, 2026, an IRST system, infrared search and track, the kind of sensor your grandmother could probably explain, looked up, found the F-35, and locked on. Not because Iranian engineers are geniuses. Because the F-35, it turns out, is extremely hot. All that engine. All that thrust. All that carefully sculpted stealth geometry, and the bloody thing glows like a kettle. The heat signature data Iran now holds is not just embarrassing. It is a gift that keeps giving. To Moscow. To Beijing. To every procurement ministry on the planet that has been quietly wondering whether to spend the money on systems designed to kill this aircraft. The answer, as of this week, is yes. And here is the bit that should really worry the Pentagon. You can patch software. You can redesign coatings. You cannot reprogramme a pilot’s brain. Every F-35 driver who takes off from here on knows, actually knows, that someone down there might be able to see them. That changes everything about how they fly. Caution replaces aggression. Hesitation replaces instinct. Four hundred billion dollars. And in the end, it was done in by a heat sensor. Tremendous. Gandalv / @Microinteracti1

@realKalos What’s the time stamp of this? All these videos do seem fishy but I just can’t understand what the point of pretending like he was still alive would be. If he’s actually dead we are gonna find out sooner rather than later so why not just come out and say it?

Weirdly, today I feel like I can actually breathe? This is one of the most disgusting things I've seen, but look at the response! Slaughtered in the comments, stock prices plummeting... I always suspected it would swing back this way, I'm just so relieved. Burn it to the ground!

@EddCoates Stock prices are up today. If you’re mistaking negative sentiment on social media as how normie gamers will respond, you might need to reevaluate your heuristics.

@TheWapplehouse @VibeoGaemPapa He's metric modulating a lot on top of it and turning it into basically just a duple meter feel with an occasional pause before a backbeat. The only one who needs to actually care that it's 17/8 here are the piano and bass vamping the groove.

I’m on week five of trying to vibe code a replacement for some dumb saas that we use and it’s so incredibly frustrating that I’m slowly realizing it’s actually a quite complex and thoughtful piece of software.

Contrary to popular belief, the high unemployment rate for CS grads is less due to AI replacing jobs and more due to the massive volume of incompetent new grads who just cheated their way to their degree using Chegg and AI and probably can’t even solve FizzBuzz without ChatGPT
aria 🪸@ariadotwav

I cannot stress enough how absolutely cooked CS, Soft Eng, Comp Eng and basically any tech/IT major is. Literally no one in my cohort bothers to write their own code anymore. People just hand in labs that are fully vibecoded and pass with grades above 90% and the profs do NOTHING
